Brianna Westbrook
Brianna Westbrook (born November 24, 1984) is an American transgender rights activist who is a vice-chair and executive committee member of the Arizona Democratic Party. A former political director of Equality Arizona, she is the first transgender person to be elected as a vice-chair of a state Democratic Party. She ran as a Justice Democrat in the Arizona's 8th congressional district special election primary following the resignation of Trent Franks in 2018. In 2020, she was elected as the Democratic Socialists of America's Southwest Regional Co-chair for the Immigrants Rights Working Group steering committee. Debra Kay Lesko (née Lorenz; born November 14, 1958) is an American politician and a Republican member of the U.S. House of Representatives, representing since 2018. The district is in the West Valley portion of the Phoenix metropolitan area and includes Glendale, Surprise, Sun City, Peoria, and part of western Phoenix. Lesko served in the Arizona Senate from 2015 to 2018. She was president pro tempore of the Arizona Senate from 2017 to 2018. Everytown for Gun Safety is an American nonprofit organization which advocates for gun control and against gun violence. Everytown was created in 2013 when Mayors Against Illegal Guns and Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America joined forces. The organization works to "support efforts to educate policy makers, as well the press and the public, about the consequences of gun violence and promote efforts to keep guns out of the hands of criminals." The group has focused on efforts to require universal background checks on firearms purchases. The organization also produces research and studies on gun violence.
