Brad Newley
Brad Newley (born 18 February 1985) is an Australian professional basketball player for Melbourne United of the National Basketball League (NBL). After starting his career in Australia, playing for the Australian Institute of Sport and the Townsville Crocodiles, Newley was drafted 54th overall by the Houston Rockets in the 2007 NBA draft. He never played in the NBA and instead carved out a career in Europe, playing in Greece, Turkey, Lithuania, and Spain between 2007 and 2016. Between 2016 and 2021, he played in the NBL for the Sydney Kings. Early life and career Newley was born in Adelaide, South Australia, in the suburb of Lower Mitcham. During his primary school days, he lived in South Australia, Northern Territory, and Queensland. NBL All-Star Game (Australia)
The NBL All-Star Game was a special event basketball game that has run in the past as part of the Australian National Basketball League. When held, the All-Star game has been between two teams composed of star players from that season. The first NBL All-Star Game was held in 1982 at the Apollo Stadium in Adelaide with the East defeating the West 153–148 with Leroy Loggins taking the first of two All-Star MVP awards. It was next held in 1988 at The Glass House in Melbourne and was then held every season until 1997. After a seven-year hiatus, the NBL revived the All-Star game for the 2003–04 NBL season and it was held every season until 2007–08. All-NBL Team
The All-NBL Team is an annual National Basketball League (NBL) honour bestowed on the best players in the league following every NBL season. The team has been selected in every season since the league's second year in 1980. The All-NBL Team is chosen via a voting system involving the head coach, one assistant coach and the team captain of each team. Voters select their All-NBL First and Second Teams by selecting three 'outside' players and two 'inside' players for each team. Players are then allocated 3 points for being placed into a First Team and 2 points for being placed into a Second Team. The Greek Basket League (GBL), often also referred to as the Greek A1 Basketball League, or Greek Basketball Championship (originally called Panhellenic Basketball Championship), and also known as the Stoiximan Basket League for sponsorship reasons, is the first tier level professional basketball league in Greece. It is run by HEBA ( el, ΕΣΑΚΕ, link=no), under the legal authority of the Hellenic Basketball Federation (E.O.K.). It is the highest-tier level of the Greek league system.
