Box Hill Hawks Football Club is an Australian rules football club playing in the Victorian Football League. It has an alliance with the Hawthorn Football Club, which plays in the Australian Football League. Early Australian rules football in Box Hill – 1903 to 1935 Organised Australian rules football within the municipality of Box Hill can be traced back to the year 1903. In that year Mr EFG Hodges, the proprietor of the "Reporter" newspaper, founded the "Reporter District Football Association". The six foundation teams were Bayswater, Box Hill, Canterbury, Ferntree Gully, Mitcham and Ringwood. This Box Hill team played on a ground approximately 400 metres south of where Box Hill City Oval is located today, the site is now partly occupied by the Box Hill High School and the Box Hill Cemetery. The City of Box Hill was a local government area about east of Melbourne, the state capital of Victoria, Australia. The city covered an area of , and existed from 1927 until 1994. History Box Hill was originally included in the Nunawading Road District, established on 7 August 1857, which became the Shire of Nunawading on 4 May 1872. On 26 May 1925, the eastern part was severed, to create the Shire of Blackburn & Mitcham (which later became the City of Nunawading), with the remainder becoming the Borough of Box Hill on 23 December 1925. Dandenong Football Club
Dandenong Football Club was an Australian rules football club which played in the Victorian Football Association (VFA). Based in the Melbourne suburb of Dandenong, the Redlegs wore navy blue and red as their club colours. Club history From 1953 to 1957 the club played in the Federal Football League. Success was immediate by winning the 1953 flag. Near success continued by being runner-up in 1954 and 1955, a third in 1956 and fifth in 1957. In all 72 wins compared to 25 losses and a draw. The NAB League Boys (also referred to as simply the NAB League and formerly known as the TAC Cup) is an under-19 Australian rules football representative competition held in Australia. It is based on geographic regions throughout country Victoria and metropolitan Melbourne with each team representing twelve Victorian regions, while a thirteenth team from Tasmania was reintroduced in 2019. The Sandringham Football Club, nicknamed The Zebras, is an Australian rules football club based in Melbourne which was formed in 1929 and plays in the Victorian Football League (VFL) which was formerly called the Victorian Football Association (VFA). John Murphy (Australian Rules Footballer)
John Murphy (born 20 November 1949) is a former Australian rules footballer who played in the Victorian Football League (now AFL). Playing career Murphy debuted with the Fitzroy Football Club in 1967 after being recruited from Diamond Valley Football League club Heidelberg, and went on to set the record for consecutive games played from debut -158 matches. This record held until 2005 when surpassed by Jared Crouch from Sydney. Shane Molloy
Shane Molloy (born 21 June 1949) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Fitzroy in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Molloy, recruited from Macleod-Rosanna, was a back pocket player. He made his Fitzroy debut at Princes Park, in a loss to Footscray, who were celebrating Ted Whitten's 300th game. The defender made four further appearances that year and spent the entire 1970 season in the reserves, but had the distinction of kicking the first ever goal at Waverley Park. He was a regular in the Fitzroy team in 1971 and 1972, missing just three games. The father of Jarrod Molloy, he played at VFA club Port Melbourne after leaving Fitzroy. Peter Francis (born 16 January 1958) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with four VFL clubs during the 1980s. Victorian country recruit Peter Francis joined Carlton in 1977 and made his senior debut two seasons later in Round 1. 1979. He played in their thrilling five point Grand Final win against Collingwood that year in what would be the only premiership of his ten season career. Halfway through the 1981 season he was traded to Fitzroy for fellow wingman Frank Marchesani. Oakleigh Football Club, nicknamed the Devils, was an Australian rules football club from Oakleigh which played in the VFA from 1929 until 1994. Oakleigh wore purple guernseys with a gold monogram thus giving them their original nickname the Purple and Golds.
