Shane Molloy
Shane Molloy (born 21 June 1949) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Fitzroy in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Molloy, recruited from Macleod-Rosanna, was a back pocket player. He made his Fitzroy debut at Princes Park, in a loss to Footscray, who were celebrating Ted Whitten's 300th game. The defender made four further appearances that year and spent the entire 1970 season in the reserves, but had the distinction of kicking the first ever goal at Waverley Park. He was a regular in the Fitzroy team in 1971 and 1972, missing just three games. The father of Jarrod Molloy, he played at VFA club Port Melbourne after leaving Fitzroy. He captain-coached Montmorency to a Diamond Valley Football League premiership in 1979. Molloy returned to the VFA in 1991 as coach of Box Hill and became person to steer the club to two successive finals series. Fitzroy Football Club
The Fitzroy Football Club is an Australian rules football club currently competing in the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA). Formed in 1883 to represent the inner-Melbourne municipality of Fitzroy, the club was a member of the Victorian Football Association (VFA), before becoming a foundation member of the breakaway Victorian Football League (VFL/AFL) in 1897. Fitzroy won a total of eight VFL premierships, of which seven (1898, 1899, 1904, 1905, 1913, 1916 and 1922) were won whilst they were nicknamed the Maroons and one (1944) as the Gorillas. The decision of the club to change its nickname to the Lions in 1957 coincided with what history now records as the beginning of decades of poor on-field performance and financial losses that eventually resulted in the club being placed into administration, ultimately leaving the AFL at the end of the 1996 season. The Northern Football Netball League (formerly known as the Diamond Valley Football League and later Northern Football League) is an Australian sports league based in the Diamond Creek, Victoria, Diamond Valley region of suburban Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, Victoria. Box Hill Hawks Football Club is an Australian rules football club playing in the Victorian Football League. It has an alliance with the Hawthorn Football Club, which plays in the Australian Football League. Montmorency Football Club is an Australian rules football club in Montmorency, Victoria, currently competing in Division 1 in the Northern Football League. History The club was formed in 1924 by Harold Hodgson and was original based at Memorial park, Greensborough. In 1925 the club relocated to its current home and joined the Diamond Valley Football League where it competed until 1931 before going into recess. Jarrod Molloy
Jarrod Molloy (born 12 May 1976) is a former Australian rules footballer in the Australian Football League. A key position player, Molloy was trialled in both attack and defence as his career progressed, with most success enjoyed near the goalmouth. Although he had some success with both Fitzroy and Brisbane, Molloy hit his straps upon reaching Collingwood. He immediately assumed the role of a club leader, and surprised many in finishing runner up to Paul Licuria in the 2001 Copeland Trophy. At the end of 2003, Molloy announced his retirement from the game at the age of 28, citing the desire to be able to walk properly on his troublesome ankles.
