Johann Lucas Boër
Johann Lucas Boër (20 April 1751 in Uffenheim, '' Grafschaft Ansbach'' – 19 January 1835 in Alsergrund), originally Johann Lucas ''Boogers'' (sometimes spelled Rogers Lucas Johann Boër) was a German medical doctor and obstetrician. Professional life Johann Lukas Boogers studied in Würzburg with Carl Caspar von Siebold. He moved to Vienna in 1771 where he became Magister in 1778. The surgeon Anton Josef Rechberger assigned Boogers to obstetrics and he soon worked at the maternity ward in Rechberger's St. Marxer Hospital. Boogers became surgeon of the Orphanage (or Foundling home) in 1784. He attracted the attention of the Emperor Joseph II who influenced him in 1785 to change surname from Boogers to Boër. Kaiser Joseph II arranged for Boër to make a study trip to Holland, England, France and Italy in 1785–88. The Ugly Ducklings were a Canadian five-piece garage rock group based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, most notable during the mid-1960s. They released six singles in 1966 and 1967 on the Yorktown and Yorkville labels, and one album, ''Somewhere Outside'' in 1967. Edward William Boers (March 10, 1884 – April 2, 1929) was a seaman serving in the United States Navy who received the Medal of Honor for bravery. Biography Boers was born March 10, 1884, in Cincinnati, Ohio and after joining the navy from Kentucky was stationed aboard the as a seaman. Christianus Franciscus Johannes Boers (24 October 1889 – 3 May 1942) was a captain in the Royal Netherlands Army during World War II who scored one of the few Allied victories during the German invasion of the Netherlands, by rallying his men in holding off and pushing back the German attackers during the Battle of the Afsluitdijk, fought from 12 to 14 May 1940. After the capitulation of Dutch forces on 15 May, Boers joined the Dutch resistance and the , an illegal organization set up to preserve order once the Germans were defeated and had been driven from the country. Heinrich Boere (27 September 1921 – 1 December 2013) was a convicted German-Dutch war criminal and former member of the Waffen-SS. He was on the Simon Wiesenthal Center's list of most wanted Nazi war criminals. Early life Heinrich Boere was born in Eschweiler, Prussia, Germany, to a Dutch father and a German mother, but his parents moved to Maastricht in the Netherlands when he was two years old. He volunteered for the Waffen-SS in September 1940, only months after the German occupation of the Netherlands.
