Dick Boer
Dick Boer (born 31 August 1957) is a Dutch businessman. From 2011 to 2018, he was the president and chief executive officer (CEO) of the supermarket chain Ahold Delhaize. Early life Boer was born on 31 August 1957. Career Boer joined Ahold in 1998, rising to CEO on 1 March 2011, succeeding John Rishton. On 24 June 2015, when Ahold and Delhaize announced that they were to combine their businesses as Ahold Delhaize, it was stated that Boer would become CEO of the merged company, with Frans Muller, CEO of Delhaize to become deputy CEO and chief integration officer. In July 2018, Boer retired and was succeeded by his deputy, Frans Muller. Other roles Boer is a board member of the Consumer Goods Forum. Axel, Netherlands
Axel is a city in the southwest Netherlands. It is located in the municipality of Terneuzen, Zeeland, about 31 km southeast of Vlissingen. Axel received city rights in 1213. History The city was first between 987 and 994 as Axla. The etymology is unclear. Axel was located on the former creek Axelse Gat which had its mouth in the former Braakman inlet. A church was built around 1100, and a castle around 1200. It was a gateway to Ghent, and received city rights in 1213. The city was plundered around 1380 and in 1452 by Ghent. The All Saints' Flood of 1570 resulted in Axel finding itself on an island. Axel was conquered by Maurice, Prince of Orange in 1586 and was fortified. John Rishton
John Frederick Rishton (born 21 February 1958) is a British business executive who served as the CEO of Rolls-Royce from March 2011 to July 2015. Biography Rishton holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Nottingham. He joined Ford Motor Company and worked with the company for 15 years, qualifying as an accountant and later becoming finance director of the company's Portuguese and Spanish operations. He joined British Airways in 1994 as the head of finance for the United States division. He became its chief finance officer in 2001. When the September 11 attacks took place, he was recognized for encouraging a program to re-structure the company and reduce its debt. He left BA in September 2005. Frans W. H. Muller (born 1961) is a Dutch businessman, and the CEO of Ahold Delhaize, since July 2018, having been deputy CEO. Education Muller earned a master's degree in business economics from Erasmus University Rotterdam. Career Muller started his career with KLM Cargo, from 1988 to 1997. He worked for Makro Cash & Carry from 1998 to 2002. He worked for Metro AG from 2002 to 2013, rising to become a Member of the Management Board of Metro Group AG and CEO Metro Cash & Carry. VNO-NCW (known in English as the "Confederation of Netherlands Industry and Employers") is a Dutch employers' federation founded in 1996 as a merger of the Christian-democratic ''Nederlands Christelijk Werkgeversverbond'' (NCW), which was founded as fusion of the Protestant PCW and the Catholic NKW, and the liberal ''Verbond van Nederlandse Ondernemingen'' (VNO).
