Bob Ives (politician)
Robert Stuart Ives (born 16 December 1938) is a former Australian politician. He was born in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia, and attended Eastern Goldfields High School. He graduated from the University of Western Australia in 1959 with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours), adding a Diploma of Education in 1960 and a Master of Arts in 1963. He worked as a teacher, and in 1965 moved to Melbourne, where he became a management consultant with BCA. Having joined the Labor Party in 1967, he was officer-in-charge of the Personnel Practice Section of the Commonwealth Department of Labour and National Service from 1972 to 1974. In 1975 he became a lecturer in Management and Organisational Behaviour at Swinburne College of Technology before joining the staff of Senator John Button in 1978. He returned to Swinburne in 1982, leaving again in 1986 to work as a government liaison officer to the Victorian Ministry for the Arts. He joined Senator Barney Cooney's staff in 1987. Kalgoorlie
Kalgoorlie is a city in the Goldfields–Esperance region of Western Australia, located east-northeast of Perth at the end of the Great Eastern Highway. It is sometimes referred to as Kalgoorlie–Boulder, as the surrounding urban area includes the historic townsite of Boulder and the local government area is the City of Kalgoorlie–Boulder. Nunawading Province
Nunawading Province was an electorate of the Victorian Legislative Council. It was created in 1976, based in the outer eastern Melbourne suburbs including Nunawading. It was finally abolished 29 March 1996. Much of its area was replaced by Koonung Province. In the 1985 election, the result for this province was subject to much controversy when the vote ended with a complete dead heat after preferences. Both the Labor candidate Bob Ives and the Liberal candidate Rosemary Varty received 54,821 votes each. The returning officer, Kathleen Leonard, was required by law to make a casting vote, which she did so by drawing a name from a ballot box. The name drawn was Bob Ives and he was declared elected. Ronald James Herbert "Ron" Wells (born 22 September 1935) is a former Australian politician. He was born in Cardiff, New South Wales, to Cecil Wells, a businessman, and Mildred, ''née'' Tombs. He received a Higher Diploma in Accounting (Honours) from the University of Western Sydney in 1954, a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (Honours) from Sydney University in 1959, a PhD from Cambridge University in 1964, and a Master of Veterinary Science from Melbourne University in 1970. He served in the RAAF from 1955 to 1956 and worked as a veterinarian in 1960 before going to Cambridge. On his return in 1965 he was a foundation senior lecturer at the University of Melbourne's School of Veterinary Science, holding that position until 1985. Charles Frederick "Fred" Van Buren (; 20 June 1936 – 11 September 2006) was an Australian politician. He was born in Kollupitiya in Ceylon, where he was educated. His father, Charles Frederick Guy Van Buren, was a Dutch Burgher, while his mother, Blossom Isabella Enright, was of Eurasian descent. He worked as a printer, and after moving to Australia was an organiser with the Labor Party's Victorian branch from 1974 to 1985. Eumemmerring Province was an electorate of the Victorian Legislative Council. It existed as a two-member electorate from 1985 to 2006, with members holding alternating eight-year terms.
