Blackwater Community School ( ga, Pobalscoil na hAbhann Móire) (BCS) is a co-educational, multi-denominational community school in Lismore, County Waterford, Ireland. The school offers Junior Certificate and Leaving Certificate programmes. It's the one hundred and forty sixth public school in the county and the fourth largest school in the county by number of pupils. Lismore () is a historic town in County Waterford, in the province of Munster, Ireland. Originally associated with Saint Mochuda of Lismore, who founded Lismore Abbey in the 7th century, the town developed around the medieval Lismore Castle. Shane Bennett (hurler)
Shane Bennett (born 5 December 1996) is an Irish hurler who plays as a centre-forward for the Waterford senior team. Born in Ballysaggart, County Waterford, Bennett first played competitive hurling during his schooling at Blackwater Community School. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of fifteen when he first linked up with the Waterford minor team before later joining the under-21 side. Bennett played wing back in 2013 as Waterford won the All Ireland minor title for the first time since 1948. Three years later, he was part of the same team that captured the county's second All Ireland U-21 title, again beating Galway He made his senior debut during the 2015 league. Bennett has since become a regular member of the starting fifteen. At club level Bennett is a one-time Munster medallist in the junior grade with Ballysaggart. Maurice Shanahan
Maurice Shanahan (born 1 February 1990) is an Irish hurler who plays as a right corner-forward at senior level for the Waterford county team. Born in Lismore, County Waterford, Shanahan first played competitive hurling during his schooling at Blackwater Community School. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of seventeen when he first linked up with the Waterford minor team, before later joining the under-21 side. He made his senior debut during the 2009 championship. Shanahan immediately became a regular member of the starting fifteen and has won one Munster medal and one National Hurling League medal. Jack Prendergast (born 1998) is an Irish hurler who plays for Waterford Senior Championship club Lismore and at inter-county level with the Waterford senior hurling team. He usually lines out as a left wing-forward. Playing career Blackwater Community School Prendergast first came to prominence as a hurler with Blackwater Community School in Lismore. Jayson Patrick Molumby (born 6 August 1999) is an Irish professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for EFL Championship side West Bromwich Albion and the Republic of Ireland national team. Born in Tourin, County Waterford, Fives developed as a hurler during his secondary schooling at Blackwater Community School in Lismore.
