Bergsdalen
Bergsdalen is a river valley in Vaksdal Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The long valley begins at the lake Hamlagrøvatnet on the border of the municipalities of Vaksdal, Voss, and Kvam. The valley then runs to the northwest along the river Bergsdalselvi all the way to the village of Dale where the valley ends. This valley was historically part of the main route between the city of Bergen and Voss, until the European route E16 highway was built to the north of the valley. The Bergsdalen valley now is home to a significant number of mountain cabins and there is especially a lot of tourist activity in the winter. There are about 100 year-round residents of the valley. Bergsdalen Church
Bergsdalen Church ( no, Bergsdalen kyrkje) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Vaksdal Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It is located in the Bergsdalen valley, east of the village of Dale. It is the church for the Bergsdalen parish which is part of the Hardanger og Voss prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Bjørgvin. The gray, stone church was built in a long church design in 1955 using plans drawn up by the architect Leiv Tvilde. The church seats about 140 people. History In 1902, a cemetery was built to serve the mountain valley of Bergsdalen. Nearly 50 years later, a church was built beside the cemetery so that the people of the valley did not have to travel so far to get to a church. The church was designed by Leiv Tvilde and Johannes Øvsthus was the lead builder. The stone church has a nave with a choir on the east end. There's a small sacristy extension off of the choir. Hamlagrøvatnet
Hamlagrøvatnet is a lake on the border of the municipalities of Voss and Kvam in Vestland county, Norway. The lake is the largest lake in all of Hordaland county. The lake is located about southeast of the village of Dalekvam and about south of the village of Evanger. The lake sits at the eastern end of the Bergsdalen valley and it is regulated at elevation of above sea level. The lake is a reservoir on the river Bergsdalselvi which has four hydroelectric power stations on it. The lake is surrounded by many holiday cottages. Dale, Hordaland
Dale () or Dalekvam is the administrative centre of Vaksdal municipality, in Vestland county, Norway. The village lies at the western end of the Bergsdalen valley, about northeast of the village of Stanghelle on the shore of the Veafjorden. The village lies along the European route E16, the Bergen Line (and Dale Station), and the river Daleelva. The village has a population (2019) of 1,193 and a population density of . Vestland is a county in Norway established on 1 January 2020. The county is located in Western Norway and it is centred around the city of Bergen, Norway's second largest city.
