La Soukra ( ar, سكرة) is a city and commune in the Ariana Governorate, Tunisia. As of 2004 it had a total population of 129,693. It is located in the center of a vast agricultural plain occupied by orange orchards of which only a few traces remain. The Truth and Dignity Commission ( ar, هيئة الحقيقة والكرامة) (') (french: Instance Vérité et Dignité) is an independent tribunal established by law in Tunisia on 23 December 2013 and formally launched on 9 June 2014 by then-President Moncef Marzouki. Established following the Tunisian Revolution, its purpose is to investigate gross human rights violations committed by the Tunisian State since 1955 and to provide compensation and rehabilitation to victims. The Commission was given a four-year mandate (i.e. to 2018) with the possibility of a one-year extension. Its president is the human rights activist Sihem Bensedrine. Lawrence Cannon, (born December 6, 1947) is a Canadian politician from Quebec and Prime Minister Stephen Harper's former Quebec lieutenant. In early 2006, he was made the Minister of Transport. On October 30, 2008, he relinquished oversight of Transport and was sworn in as Minister of Foreign Affairs. He was defeated in the 2011 federal election by the NDP's Mathieu Ravignat.
