Baguette was an Australian bred Thoroughbred racehorse that was undefeated as a two-year-old and became the first winner of the Two Year Old Triple Crown. His wins included 14 Principal Races and he retired to become a good sire. Kia Ora Stud
The Kia-Ora Stud is a Thoroughbred horse stud situated near Scone in the Hunter Region, New South Wales. Percy Miller purchased the cattle property Kia-Ora from the established Segenhoe Stud in 1914 and from there developed the Kia-Ora Stud. By 1917, the stud was able to offer two yearlings at the Sydney Easter Sales; the start of a sustained and most remarkable breeding record. At the 1941 Sydney Easter Sales, 105 yearlings were offered on behalf of the stud. The total of yearlings presented for sale between 1917 and 1949 was 2,862. The Kia-Ora Stud has produced foals which have won seven Melbourne Cups. Among the many horses that have been born and reared here are: Amounis, Evening Peal, Shannon, Delta, Hydrogen and Windbag. Victoria Racing Club
The Victoria Racing Club was founded in 1864. It was formed following the disbanding of the Victoria Turf Club and the Victoria Jockey Club. A legacy passed from the Victoria Turf Club was the annual "race that stops a nation", the Melbourne Cup, which was first contested in 1861. From its foundation in 1864 until 2001, the Victoria Racing Club was the responsible authority for the conduct of thoroughbred racing in the State of Victoria, Australia. Since 2001, this role has been managed by Racing Victoria Limited. The VRC is managed by an unpaid committee, elected by club members. In 1871, the Victorian Government appointed the VRC as trustees of a site of 352 acres (1.4 km2) of Crown Land, next to the Maribyrnong River, which became known as Flemington Racecourse. The George Ryder Stakes is an Australian Turf Club Group 1 Thoroughbred horse race for three-year-olds and over at Weight for age conditions, over a distance of 1500 metres at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse, Sydney, Australia in March or April. The Doomben 10,000 is a Brisbane Racing Club Group 1 Thoroughbred Weight for Age horse race, run over a distance of 1200 metres at Doomben Racecourse, Brisbane, Australia during the Queensland Winter Racing Carnival. Total prize money is A$1,000,000. The race is considered one of the premier sprint races in Queensland racing. It is held at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse in Sydney, Australia in the early autumn. Prize money is $400,000.
