BC Grand Sport is a professional basketball team based in Yerevan, Armenia. Founded in 2011 by Grand Holding Co. Ltd., it currently plays in the Armenia Basketball League A. History BC Grand Sport was founded in 2011, when the new Grand Sport basketball complex opened in Yerevan, Armenia. The team started training and ultimately playing in junior categories from 2011, until it made its debut in the Armenia Basketball League A in 2017. In its first season, the club ended in the sixth position out of seven teams at the League A. Vardan Khachatryan served as a player-manager during the first half of the season, before the appointment of Nerses Manucharyan as the head coach of the team prior to the beginning of the second half. In September 2018, Grand Sport resigned to continue in the League A as they wanted to develop their youth teams instead of signing foreign players for their squad, and joined the newly created League B. The Armenia Basketball League A (Armenian: ), is the top men's official basketball league in Armenia. The first season of the competition was launched in 2017. Since 2019, it has been renamed the VBET A-League after a headline sponsorship agreement with the Armenian gambling operator VBET. History After the creation of the Armenia national basketball team, the Basketball Federation of Armenia decided to establish the new League A for training new players for the national team. 2017–18 Armenia Basketball League A
The 2017–18 Armenia Basketball League A season, was the inaugural season of the new official competition of basketball first division in Armenia. Artsakh won the title after doing a perfect 6–0 in the playoffs. Competition format After several negotiations, finally seven teams joined the competition, consisting in a round-robin tournament where the best teams would qualify for the playoffs. The best teams are able for qualifying to the European competitions. The regular season consisted in a double-legged round-robin tournament where the first qualified would join directly the semifinals. The other six teams would face in the quarterfinals. Pan-Armenian Games
The Pan-Armenian Games ( hy, Համահայկական խաղեր) are a multi-sport event, held between competitors from the Armenian diaspora and Armenia. They consist of various competitions in individual and team sports among the Armenian athletes. It takes place in Yerevan, the capital of Armenia. Eligibility The Games are open to Armenian passport-holders (irrespective of national origin) and citizens of other countries who have Armenian descent.
