Bözberg Railway Line
The Bözberg railway line is a railway line in Switzerland, running between Basel and Brugg via Pratteln, Rheinfelden, Stein-Säckingen, Frick and the Bözberg Tunnel. At Brugg it connects to Zürich via Baden and to the Gotthard Railway via the Aargauische Südbahn. The line was built by the Bötzberg Railway (german: Bötzbergbahn), a joint venture of the Swiss Northeastern Railway and Swiss Central Railway. Construction started in 1870 and it opened on 2 August 1875. It was taken over by Swiss Federal Railways in 1902. It is now an important freight line connecting Germany and Italy via the Gotthard. Swiss Central Railway
The Swiss Central Railway (''Schweizerische Centralbahn''; SCB or S.C.B.) was one of the five major private railway companies of Switzerland. The SCB with a track length of 332 kilometres was integrated into the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) in 1902. History The SCB based in Basel was founded on 4 February 1853 by Johann Jakob Speiser, Achilles Bischoff and Karl Geigy. The shares were mainly owned by Parisian banks. Effingen
Effingen is a former municipality in the district of Brugg in canton of Aargau in Switzerland. On 1 January 2022 the former municipalities of Bözen, Effingen, Elfingen and Hornussen merged into the new municipality of Böztal. History Effingen is first mentioned in 1284 as ''Efingen'' though the area was settled earlier. The earliest evidence of a settlement is a High Middle Ages chapel with associated Alamanni graves. Effingen belonged to the court of Elfingen until 1460 when it was purchased by Bern. Under Bern it belonged to the court of Bözen of the Schenkenberg Bailiwick. The Fricktal ("Frick Valley") is a region on Northwestern Switzerland, comprising the Laufenburg and Rheinfelden districts of the Swiss canton of Aargau. Hauenstein Railway Line
The Hauenstein Railway is a major railway line in Switzerland connecting the cities of Basel and Olten. The original line was built between 1853 and 1858 under the Unterer Hauenstein Pass, an ancient pass through the Jura Mountains, including a long tunnel under the village of Hauenstein. Between 1912 and 1916 a new line with an long base tunnel was built further east, by-passing the steeper sections of the line. Normally long-distance trains use the base tunnel line, and the old summit line is only used by trains serving the local people ('' Läufelfingerli''). Olten railway station (german: Bahnhof Olten) is a major hub railway station in the canton of Solothurn, Switzerland, at the junction of lines to Zürich, Bern, Basel, Lucerne and Biel. Laufenburg, Switzerland
Laufenburg is a municipality in the Swiss canton of Aargau. It is the seat of the district of the same name. On 1 January 2010 the municipality Sulz merged into Laufenburg.
