Zürich–Baden Railway Line
The Zürich–Baden railway line is a major railway line in Switzerland connecting the cities of Zürich and Baden, Switzerland, Baden. It forms part of the major east-west route between Zürich and Olten. The line generally follows the south bank of the Limmat from Zürich to Baden. A new line, the Heitersberg railway line, Heitersberg line, opened in 1975, branches off in Killwangen-Spreitenbach and follows a more southerly route through the Heitersberg Tunnel towards Olten. The Zürich–Baden railway is electrified at 15 kV 16.7 Hz and much of it has four tracks. The section between Zürich and Baden, Switzerland, Baden was opened in 1847 and was the first line opened in Switzerland, apart from a line from Mulhouse, France to Basel. Zürich Hauptbahnhof (often shortened to Zürich HB, or just HB; ''Zürich Main Station'' or ''Zürich Central Station'') is the largest railway station in Switzerland. Killwangen-Spreitenbach Railway Station
Killwangen-Spreitenbach is a railway station in the municipality of Killwangen in the Swiss canton of Aargau. As the name suggests, the station also serves the adjacent municipality of Spreitenbach. The station is located on the Zurich to Olten main line, just east of the point where the newer route via the Heitersberg Tunnel diverges from the original line via Baden. The station is served by services S11 and S12 of the Zurich S-Bahn. Zofingen–Wettingen Railway Line
The Zofingen–Wettingen railway line is a standard-gauge line in Switzerland. It was opened on 6 September 1877 between Zofingen and Baden Oberstadt together with the Aarau–Suhr railway by the Swiss National Railway (''Schweizerische Nationalbahn''; SNB). The opening of the adjacent Baden Oberstadt–Wettingen section together with the Wettingen–Effretikon railway, which represented its continuation to the east, was delayed until 15 October 1877 due to construction delays at the Limmat bridge. The SNB went bankrupt in 1878, after which the line was acquired by the Swiss Northeastern Railway (''Schweizerische Nordostbahn''; NOB) from the bankrupt estate. The NOB became part of the Swiss Federal Railways with the nationalisation of the company in 1902. Limmat
The Limmat is a river in Switzerland. The river commences at the outfall of Lake Zurich, in the southern part of the city of Zurich. From Zurich it flows in a northwesterly direction, after 35 km reaching the river Aare. The confluence is located north of the small town of Brugg and shortly after the mouth of the Reuss. The main towns along the Limmat Valley downstream of Zurich are Dietikon, Wettingen, and Baden. Its main tributaries are the Linth, via Lake Zurich, the Sihl, in Zurich, and the Reppisch, in Dietikon. The hydronym is first attested in the 8th century, as ''Lindimacus''. Zürich Oerlikon railway station (german: Bahnhof Zürich Oerlikon) is a railway station located in the District 11 of Zürich. Otelfingen is a municipality in the district of Dielsdorf in the canton of Zürich in Switzerland. A1 Motorway (Switzerland)
The A1 is a motorway in Switzerland. It follows Switzerland's main east–west axis, from St. Margrethen in northeastern Switzerland's canton of St. Gallen through to Geneva in southwestern Switzerland. The motorway spans 383 km (240 mi).
