Bruno Liberda
Bruno Liberda (born February 17, 1953 in Mödling, Vienna) is an Austrian composer of contemporary classical music. Life Liberda started his academic and musical education when he was 16. He studied composition under Alfred Uhl at the Universität für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Wien. Later he studied under Roman Haubenstock-Ramati who became his most influential teacher and mentor. He received several awards and scholarships in Europe & US. Today Liberda lectures electronic music at the Universität für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Wien. Mödling
Mödling () is the capital of the Austrian Mödling (district), district of the same name located approximately 14 km south of Vienna. Mödling lies in Lower Austria's industrial zone (Industrieviertel). The Mödlingbach, a brook which rises in the Vienna Woods, flows through the town. Near Achau it joins with the Schwechat. Woodland occupies a large part of the municipality, part of the Föhrenberge ('Pine Mountains'). Located immediately south of Vienna, and within the boundaries of the district of Mödling, is one of the largest shopping centres in Europe: Shopping City Süd (SCS). Alfred Uhl
Alfred Uhl (5 June 1909 – 8 June 1992) was an Austrian composer, violist, music teacher and conductor. Biography Uhl was born in Vienna and studied with Franz Schmidt at the Vienna Music Academy, receiving a diploma in composition with honours in 1932. He subsequently worked as Kapellmeister of the Swiss Festspielmusik in Zürich. While there he composed scores for a variety of cultural and industrial films. He returned to Vienna in 1938 and in 1940 was drafted into the Austrian Army. From 1940 to 1942 he commanded a French prison camp in Neumarkt. He joined the faculty of the Vienna Music Academy in 1945, where he taught theory, orchestration and composition until his retirement in 1980. One of his notable students was Alfred Prinz. He was the recipient of the Vienna Schubert Prize (1943), the Austrian State Prize (1960), the Vienna Music Prize (1961), the Viennese Gold Medal of Honour (1969) and the Austrian Badge of Honour for Service and Arts (1980). Roman Haubenstock-Ramati
Roman Haubenstock-Ramati ( he, רוֹמן האובּנשׁטוֹק-רָמָתִי; 27 February 1919 – 3 March 1994) was a composer and music editor who worked in Kraków, Tel Aviv and Vienna. Life Haubenstock-Ramati was born in Kraków. He studied composition, music theory, violin and philosophy there from 1934 to 1938, and in Lemberg from 1939 to 1941. Among his teachers were Artur Malawski and Józef Koffler. From 1947 to 1950 he was head of the music department of Kraków Radio, and from 1950 to 1956 he was director of the State Music Library in Tel Aviv. In 1957 he was awarded a six-month stipend for the Academy for musique concrète. From 1957 to 1968 he was an editor of new music for Universal Edition in Vienna. In addition he gave guest lectures and composition seminars in Tel Aviv, Stockholm, Darmstadt, Bilthoven (the Netherlands) and Buenos Aires, and from 1973 held a professorship at the Musikhochschule in Vienna. Valse Triste (Liberda)
''Valse triste'' (''Sad Waltz''), Op. 44, No. 1, is a short orchestral work by the Finnish composer Jean Sibelius. It was originally part of the incidental music he composed for his brother-in-law Arvid Järnefelt's 1903 play ''Kuolema'' (''Death''), but is far better known as a separate concert piece. Sibelius wrote six pieces for the 2 December 1903 production of ''Kuolema''. The first was titled ''Tempo di valse lente - Poco risoluto''. In 1904 he revised the piece, which was performed in Helsinki on 25 April of that year as ''Valse triste''. It was an instant hit with the public, took on a life of its own, and remains one of Sibelius's signature pieces. Józef Maria Hoene-Wroński
Józef Maria Hoene-Wroński (; french: Josef Hoëné-Wronski ; 23 August 1776 – 9 August 1853) was a Polish messianist philosopher, mathematician, physicist, inventor, lawyer, occultist and economist. He was born as Hoëné to a municipal architect in 1776 but changed his name in 1815 to Józef Wroński. Later in life he changed his name to Józef Maria Hoene-Wroński, without using his family's original French spelling Hoëné. At no point in his life, neither in Polish or French, was he known as Hoëné-Wroński; nor was the common French transliteration, Josef Hoëné-Wronski, ever his official name in his native Poland (though it might have served as his chosen French ''nom de plume'' on some work).
