Bronwen Knox
Bronwen Knox (born 16 April 1986) is an Australian water polo centre back/centre forward. She attended Hartwick College and Griffith University, earning a Bachelor of Biomedical Science, and works as a laboratory assistant. She started playing water polo when she was fourteen. She played for the National Water Polo League's Queensland Breakers before switching to the Victorian Tigers for the 2012 season. In 2013–14 season she played for the Greek powerhouse Olympiacos in the European competitions, winning the LEN Trophy. Knox has represented Australia as a member of Australia women's national water polo team on both the junior and senior levels. She has won the gold medal at the 2006 FINA World Cup, the silver medal at the 2007 World Championship, the 2010 FINA World Cup and the 2010 FINA World League, and the bronze medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics and the 2008 FINA World League. FINA Women's Water Polo World Cup
The FINA Women's Water Polo World Cup is an international water polo competition contested by women's national water polo teams of the members of FINA, the aquatic sports' global governing body. The tournament was established in 1979 with an erratic schedule, was contested every two years from 1989 - 1999, and has been contested every four years since 2002. Australia Women's National Water Polo Team
The Australia national women's water polo team represents Australia in women's international water polo competitions and is controlled by Water Polo Australia. It was one of the most successful women's water polo teams in the world. It is currently organised into the Asia/Oceania regional group. History The Australia women's water polo team played their first international in 1975. Since that time they have gone from strength to strength. The team have often had to struggle with lack of funding, but despite that continued to perform credibly on the international stage. Women's LEN Trophy
The Women's LEN Trophy is LEN's second-tier competition for women's water polo clubs. It was first held in 2000 as the LEN Women's Cup Winners' Cup. It was contested for many seasons by around 15 teams, which could qualify for it either directly due to high ranking in their domestic league or by being eliminated at certain stages of the Champions' Cup. After the last reformations in the European competitions system by LEN, only four teams contesting for the trophy, coming after elimination at that season's LEN Euro League quarterfinals stage. The Victorian Phoenix Water Polo Club is a Melbourne based Australian water polo club that competed in the Australian National Water Polo League. Established in 2022, the club had a men's team and a women's team. History The Victorian Tigers (formerly known as the Richmond Tigers and the Hawthorn Tigers) were a water polo team competing in the Australian National Water Polo League established in 1990. Their success came mostly in the early years of the National League, which they dominated, winning the first four championships. Australian National Water Polo League
The Australian Water Polo League is the premier Australian domestic water polo competition. The men's league began in 1990 and the women's league started in 2004. Ten clubs compete in the league, each fielding a women's and a men's team. As of 2021 five clubs are based in Sydney and one each in Adelaide, Brisbane, Fremantle, Newcastle and Perth. The first history of the sport in Australia was launched in February 2009, under the title 'Water Warriors: Chronicle of Australian Water Polo', by Dr. Tracy Rockwell. The 592-page publication features over 1,300 images and is an in-depth reference on water polo in Australia from its first match in 1879 to the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Griffith University

Water Polo
Water polo is a competitive team sport played in water between two teams of seven players each. The game consists of four quarters in which the teams attempt to score goals by throwing the ball into the opposing team's goal. The team with the most goals at the end of the game wins the match. Each team is made up of six field players and one goalkeeper. Excluding the goalkeeper, players participate in both offensive and defensive roles. It is typically played in an all-deep pool where players cannot touch the bottom. A game consists mainly of the players swimming to move about the pool, treading water (mainly using the eggbeater kick), passing the ball, and shooting at the goal.
