British Cadet Rifle Team
The British Cadet Rifle Team, also known as The Athelings, are a team of eighteen cadets selected from the Community Cadet Forces of the United Kingdom. Every year applications are submitted in the Autumn term and a selection committee with twelve members choose the best eighteen applications, and name an additional three non-travelling reserves. These selected cadets then shoot at the British National Rifle Association's Imperial Meeting in July before flying to Canada to compete with the Royal Canadian Army Cadets and shoot at the Dominion of Canada meeting held at Connaught Cadet Training Centre. Community Cadet Forces
The Community Cadet Forces is a term used by the United Kingdom Ministry of Defence (United Kingdom), Ministry of Defence (MOD) to group together the Sea Cadet Corps (United Kingdom), Sea Cadets and Volunteer Cadet Corps, Army Cadet Force and Air Training Corps. Together with the Combined Cadet Force (CCF) they constitute the UK's MOD-sponsored cadet forces. The Volunteer Cadet Corps, which in 2017 became the fifth MOD sponsored cadet force, enjoy close ties with the Royal Marines elements of the Sea Cadet Corps and the Combined Cadet Force forming a tri-partite family of 'Royal Marines Cadets'. While these cadet forces are sponsored by the MOD and maintain strong ties, traditions and customs with the British Armed Forces, they are Volunteer Youth Organisations and have no liability for military service. Imperial Meeting
The Imperial Meeting is a major annual target shooting competition hosted by the National Rifle Association on the historic Bisley Camp in England. The Meeting lasts for 3 weeks each July, encompassing inter-service military matches; cadet shooting competitions; the Schools Meeting (culminating in the Ashburton Match); Historic Arms; as well as civilian Match Rifle and Target Rifle competitions. The meeting closes with the Sovereign's Prize. History The first Imperial Meeting was contested on Wimbledon Common in 1860. Royal Canadian Army Cadets
The Royal Canadian Army Cadets (RCAC; french: Cadets royaux de l’Armée canadienne) is a national Canadian youth program sponsored by the Canadian Armed Forces and the civilian Army Cadet League of Canada. Dominion Of Canada Rifle Association
The Dominion of Canada Rifle Association (DCRA; french: Association de Tir Dominion du Canada) is a Canadian shooting sports organization. It was founded in 1868 and incorporated by an Act of Parliament 63-64 Victoria Chapter 99, assented to July 7, 1900, to promote and encourage the training of marksmanship throughout Canada. Connaught Cadet Training Centre
Connaught Cadet Training Centre (Connaught CTC) (French: ''Centre d'instruction des cadets de Connaught''; ''CIC Connaught''), is a training centre for Royal Canadian Army Cadets, Royal Canadian Air Cadets, and Royal Canadian Sea Cadets since 1989. The Parker-Hale Model 82 (M82) is the military version of the Parker-Hale 1200TX target rifle; it was accepted for service by several nations for both military and police use. In appearance and design terms the Model 82 is an entirely conventional sniping weapon.
