Brisbane Capitals is a NBL1 North club based in Brisbane, Queensland. The club fields a team in both the Men's and Women's NBL1 North. The club is a division of Brisbane Basketball Incorporated (BBI), one of the major administrative basketball organisations in the region. The Capitals play their home games at Auchenflower Stadium. Club history Background In 1962, Brisbane Amateur Basketball Association (BABA) was formed. In 1979, the association entered the Brisbane Bullets into the inaugural National Basketball League (NBL) season. In 1982, the association entered the Brisbane Blazers into the inaugural Women's National Basketball League (WNBL) season. NBL1 North, formerly the Queensland Basketball League (QBL), is a semi-professional basketball league in Queensland and Northern Territory, Australia, comprising both a men's and women's competition. In 2020, Basketball Queensland partnered with the National Basketball League (NBL) to bring NBL1 to Queensland. NBL1 replaced the former QBL to create more professional pathways and opportunities for males and females playing basketball in Queensland. As a result, the QBL became the north conference of NBL1. Gold Coast Rollers is a NBL1 North club based in Gold Coast, Queensland. The club fields a team in both the Men's and Women's NBL1 North. The club is a division of Gold Coast City Regional Basketball Association, the major administrative basketball organisation in the region. The Rollers play their home games at Carrara Indoor Stadium. Club history In 1959, the Gold Coast Amateur Basketball Association was established. The Queensland State Basketball League (QSBL) began in 1986, and in 1987, the Cougars men won their first championship. Jarred Bairstow
Jarred Bairstow (born 5 November 1992) is an Australian professional basketball player for the Hobart Chargers of the NBL1 South. He is also contracted with the Tasmania JackJumpers of the National Basketball League (NBL). He played three seasons of college basketball in the United States for the Central Oklahoma Bronchos before returning to Australia and spending the 2016–17 season as a development player with his hometown Brisbane Bullets in the NBL. Jason Robert Cadee (born 15 April 1991) is an Australian professional basketball player for the Brisbane Bullets of the National Basketball League (NBL). He is also the team captain for the Bullets. Early life and career Cadee was born and raised in the Sydney suburb of Greenacre. He attended Westfields Sports High School in the nearby suburb of Fairfield West, where he earned Hall of Fame status for basketball. He grew up playing for the Bankstown Bruins junior program. Auchenflower Stadium (currently known under naming rights as NAB Stadium) is an Australian basketball centre in Auchenflower, Queensland. The eight-court arena was the home of NBL side Brisbane Bullets until 1983. During that time, it was often referred to as The Auchendome. The facilities cater for those using wheelchairs. During the 2010–11 Queensland floods, nine feet of water flooded the complex. Women's National Basketball League
The Women's National Basketball League (WNBL) is the pre-eminent professional women's basketball league in Australia. It is currently composed of eight teams.
