Brian Price (rower)
Brian Price (born February 19, 1976) has been the Canadian coxswain of the men's eight since 2001. He was born in Belleville, Ontario. Price began rowing on the National Team in 1998 after graduating from Seneca College with a Civil Engineering Technology diploma. The first national team crew that he made was the 1998 development lightweight eight. He made the move to the heavyweight men's team in 1999 and competed at the Pan Am Games in Winnipeg. Price has competed at World Championships in the Eight from 2001 to 2008, 2011 and has earned three World Championship victories ('02,'03,'07) along with a bronze medal most recently in 2011. He has doubled up in the Eight and Coxed Pair four times and medaled each time with a bronze. Eight (rowing)
An eight is a rowing boat used in the sport of competitive rowing (crew). It is designed for eight rowers, who propel the boat with sweep oars, and is steered by a coxswain, or "cox". Each of the eight rowers has one oar. The rowers, who sit in a line in the centre of the boat and facing the stern, are usually placed alternately, with four on the port side (rower's right hand side - also traditionally known as "stroke side") and four on the starboard side (rower's lefthand side - known as "bow side"). The cox steers the boat using a rudder and is normally seated at the stern of the boat. Because of the speed of the boat, it is generally considered unsafe to row coxless or to have a bowloader cox. Jeremiah Brown (rower)
Jeremiah Brown (born 25 November 1985) is one of few Olympians ever to go from complete beginner to Olympic medalist in less than four years. Brown won an Olympic silver medal at the 2012 London Olympics as part of the men's eights for Canada. Brown became leader of the Canadian Olympic Committee's athlete wellness and transition programs for four years before becoming an author and keynote speaker on transformation, perseverance, and resilience. Career Originally playing as an offensive lineman in college football for the McMaster Marauders in Hamilton, Brown decided to move to British Columbia to begin his transition to rowing after watching the Canadian men's eights win gold at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. Gabriel Bergen
Gabriel "Gabe" Bergen (born 6 July 1982 in Dawson Creek) is a Canadian rower. Bergen won a silver medal as part of the men's eights for Canada at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. He has also won one medal of every colour at the World Championships including being champion in the coxed pair in 2008 and a silver and a bronze in the eights in 2009 and 2011 respectively. Career Bergen began his rowing career in 2005 and began his competitive career as part of the men's eights in 2006. His first World Championship was as a world title when he won the gold in the coxed pair at the 2008 World Rowing Championships with partner James Dunaway and cox Mark Laidlaw. Adam Kreek
Adam Kreek (born 2 December 1980) is an author, executive business coach and Canadian rower. He is a member of the BC Sports Hall of Fame and the Ontario Sports Hall of Fame. Dominic Sieterle
Dominic Seiterle (born September 4, 1975) is a Canadian rower born in Montreal, Quebec. He is a 2008 Summer Olympics and World Rowing Championships gold medallist as a member of the 8+. He also won three gold medals at the 2007 World Rowing Cup regattas and gold at the 2007 Henley Royal Regatta. Previous to this, he was 2006 Canadian National Rowing Gold medallist in the single scull and came 13th at the 2000 Summer Olympics in the double sculls. Malcolm Howard (rower)
Malcolm Howard (born February 7, 1983) is a Canadian rower. He was born in Victoria, British Columbia and graduated from Brentwood College School (Mill Bay, British Columbia) in 2001. While at Brentwood he joined Canada's junior national team. As part of the national team Howard won three World Rowing Championships medals including a silver in 2004 in the men's coxed fours, and a gold in 2007 in the men's eights. Jake Wetzel
Jacob Wetzel (born December 26, 1976) is a Canadian rower. He has represented both Canada and the United States at the World Championships and the Olympics. He was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. College years As a teenager, Wetzel was on the Canadian Junior Cycling team; he only began rowing in the fall of 1997 at the University of California, Berkeley. His success was immediate and extraordinary. His collegiate boat was undefeated and won the freshman 8 event at the 1998 Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championship (IRA). Andrew Byrnes
James Andrew Byrnes (born May 22, 1983) is a Canadian rower and Olympic gold medallist. He was born in Toronto, Ontario and raised in Ithaca, New York. Byrnes is a 2005 graduate of Bates College in Maine, where he rowed for the Bates Rowing Team and earned a master's degree in engineering from the University of Pennsylvania in 2006. Ben Rutledge (born November 9, 1980, in Cranbrook, British Columbia) was a Canadian Olympic rower and is currently a Mortgage Broker. In Seville, Spain 2002 he was a member of Canada's inaugural Men's 8+ crew to win a gold medal at a World Championship regatta. He accomplished this task two more times in 2003 and 2007 in Milan, Italy, and Munich, Germany. His Olympic results include a disappointing fifth-place finish in the men's 8+ at the 2004 Athens Olympics.
