Malcolm Howard (rower)
Malcolm Howard (born February 7, 1983) is a Canadian rower. He was born in Victoria, British Columbia and graduated from Brentwood College School (Mill Bay, British Columbia) in 2001. While at Brentwood he joined Canada's junior national team. As part of the national team Howard won three World Rowing Championships medals including a silver in 2004 in the men's coxed fours, and a gold in 2007 in the men's eights. He won a gold medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics in the men's eights with Andrew Byrnes, Kyle Hamilton, Adam Kreek, Kevin Light, Ben Rutledge, Dominic Sieterle, Jake Wetzel and cox Brian Price. The crew was later named to Canada's Sports Hall of Fame. At the 2012 Summer Olympics he won a silver medal in the men's eight. His teammates included Andrew Byrnes and Brian Price from the 2008 gold medal-winning crew. Will Crothers
Will Crothers (born June 14, 1987 in Kingston, Ontario) is a Canadian rower. He started rowing in grade 9 for KCVI, following his brother into the sport. Within just a few years, Will and his rowing partner Rob Gibson were Canadian high school champions in heavyweight pairs. Additionally, Will was named Ontario Male Athlete of the Year in 2005. He won a silver medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the men's eight, just behind the German team, with Andrew Byrnes, Gabriel Bergen, Jeremiah Brown, Douglas Csima, Robert Gibson, Malcolm Howard, Conlin McCabe and Brian Price. Jeremiah Brown (rower)
Jeremiah Brown (born 25 November 1985) is one of few Olympians ever to go from complete beginner to Olympic medalist in less than four years. Brown won an Olympic silver medal at the 2012 London Olympics as part of the men's eights for Canada. Brown became leader of the Canadian Olympic Committee's athlete wellness and transition programs for four years before becoming an author and keynote speaker on transformation, perseverance, and resilience. Career Originally playing as an offensive lineman in college football for the McMaster Marauders in Hamilton, Brown decided to move to British Columbia to begin his transition to rowing after watching the Canadian men's eights win gold at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. Gabriel Bergen
Gabriel "Gabe" Bergen (born 6 July 1982 in Dawson Creek) is a Canadian rower. Bergen won a silver medal as part of the men's eights for Canada at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. He has also won one medal of every colour at the World Championships including being champion in the coxed pair in 2008 and a silver and a bronze in the eights in 2009 and 2011 respectively. Career Bergen began his rowing career in 2005 and began his competitive career as part of the men's eights in 2006. His first World Championship was as a world title when he won the gold in the coxed pair at the 2008 World Rowing Championships with partner James Dunaway and cox Mark Laidlaw. Brian Price (rower)
Brian Price (born February 19, 1976) has been the Canadian coxswain of the men's eight since 2001. He was born in Belleville, Ontario. Price began rowing on the National Team in 1998 after graduating from Seneca College with a Civil Engineering Technology diploma. The first national team crew that he made was the 1998 development lightweight eight. He made the move to the heavyweight men's team in 1999 and competed at the Pan Am Games in Winnipeg. Price has competed at World Championships in the Eight from 2001 to 2008, 2011 and has earned three World Championship victories ('02,'03,'07) along with a bronze medal most recently in 2011. He has doubled up in the Eight and Coxed Pair four times and medaled each time with a bronze. Jake Wetzel
Jacob Wetzel (born December 26, 1976) is a Canadian rower. He has represented both Canada and the United States at the World Championships and the Olympics. He was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. College years As a teenager, Wetzel was on the Canadian Junior Cycling team; he only began rowing in the fall of 1997 at the University of California, Berkeley. His success was immediate and extraordinary. His collegiate boat was undefeated and won the freshman 8 event at the 1998 Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championship (IRA). That summer Wetzel tried out for and made the Canadian National team in the pair event (2-) and finished seventh at the World Championships in Cologne, Germany. Dominic Sieterle
Dominic Seiterle (born September 4, 1975) is a Canadian rower born in Montreal, Quebec. He is a 2008 Summer Olympics and World Rowing Championships gold medallist as a member of the 8+. He also won three gold medals at the 2007 World Rowing Cup regattas and gold at the 2007 Henley Royal Regatta. Previous to this, he was 2006 Canadian National Rowing Gold medallist in the single scull and came 13th at the 2000 Summer Olympics in the double sculls. Ben Rutledge (born November 9, 1980, in Cranbrook, British Columbia) was a Canadian Olympic rower and is currently a Mortgage Broker. In Seville, Spain 2002 he was a member of Canada's inaugural Men's 8+ crew to win a gold medal at a World Championship regatta. He accomplished this task two more times in 2003 and 2007 in Milan, Italy, and Munich, Germany. His Olympic results include a disappointing fifth-place finish in the men's 8+ at the 2004 Athens Olympics. Kevin Light
Kevin Richard Light (born May 16, 1979) is a Canadian rower. Early life He was born in Vancouver, British Columbia but has lived in Victoria, British Columbia since 1985. He began rowing at Stelly's High School in grade 12 and graduated in 1997. He was enrolled at the University of Victoria from 1997 until 2001 where he was part of numerous Canadian University Rowing Championships teams. The highlight of his university rowing career came in 2001 when Uvic beat the University of Washington at the Opening Day Regatta. Adam Kreek (born 2 December 1980) is an author, executive business coach and Canadian rower. He is a member of the BC Sports Hall of Fame and the Ontario Sports Hall of Fame.
