Breswana
Breswana is a remote Himalayan village in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir in India. The village is located above sea level. Breswana village is accessed via trails from Premnagar, the closest town. Kashmiri is the main language of the area. People also use Urdu as a secondary language. Geography It is located in Saraz region and is about away from the last motorable point, at the wooden bridge over the river Chenab in the town of Premnagar, which is about from Doda. Sabbah Haji
Sabbah Haji is the former Director of Haji Public School, a not-for-profit school established in 2009 by her family in their ancestral village in the Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir, India. Sabbah was born in Dubai in 1982 where her father, Saleem Haji, was a manager in a shipping company. Sabbah's family is from Breswana village of Doda, Jammu and Kashmir. Her family shifted to Dubai in early 1980s and then to Bangalore in 1997. She finally returned to her native village, Breswana, to run the Haji Public School with her family, with the school being the main focus of her life, till she quit in November 2021. Family Sabbah Haji was born and raised in Dubai. Her father is from Breswana village of Doda in Jammu and Kashmir. Haji Public School
Haji Public School is a not-for-profit progressive school started in 2009 by the Haji family in their ancestral village Breswana, in the Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir in Northern India. It specifically caters to low income farming families which make up the most of the local populace in the high mountains of the Doda District. The school is a registered K-10 institute, affiliated with JKBOSE. The school serves children from over 30 mountain villages, and operates on a low cost, high academic standard formula. The school is privately funded by the Haji family, friends and online donations. History In 2008, Sabbah Haji moved back from Bengaluru to her native village Breswana. There, she saw that nearly two generations of villagers had no education, due to the apathetic attitude of successive governments and militancy. Saraz Region
Saraz or Siraj is a hilly region in Jammu and Kashmir, northern India. Historically a '' pargana'' within the erstwhile state of Kishtwar, the region currently takes up the northern half of Doda district and parts of neighbouring Ramban and Kishtwar districts. Kashmiri Language
Kashmiri () or Koshur (, /kəːʃur/) is an Indo-Aryan language spoken by around 7 million Kashmiris of the Kashmir region, primarily in the Indian union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. In 2020, the Parliament of India passed a bill to make Kashmiri an official language of Jammu and Kashmir along with Dogri, Hindi, Urdu and English. Sarazi
Sarazi or Sirazi (also spelled Siraji) is an Indo-Aryan language of Jammu and Kashmir, India. It is native to the Saraz region, a hilly area taking up the northern half of Doda district and parts of neighbouring Ramban and Kishtwar districts. Sarazi is spoken as a first language by people (as of 2001), primarily Hindus, but it is also used as a lingua franca of the Saraz region and so is also spoken as a second language by Muslims, most of whom are native speakers of Kashmiri. Sarazi has similarities both to Kashmiri, and to neighbouring Western Pahari languages like Bhaderwahi, though it is nowadays most often classified with the latter. Chenab
The Chenab River () is a major river that flows in India and Pakistan, and is one of the 5 major rivers of the Punjab region. It is formed by the union of two headwaters, Chandra and Bhaga, which rise in the upper Himalayas in the Lahaul region of Himachal Pradesh, India.
