Brendan Murtagh
Brendan Murtagh (born 1983) is an Irish hurler. His league and championship career with the Westmeath senior team spanned twenty seasons from 2001 until 2020. Born in Mullingar, County Westmeath, Murtagh was educated at Mullingar Community College and later at Sligo Institute of Technology. He first played competitive hurling at juvenile and underage levels with Clonkill, before later joining the senior team. The highlight of Murtagh's club career was the winning of an All-Ireland medal in the intermediate grade in 2008. He also won a Leinster medal and six senior county championship medals. As a Gaelic footballer, Murtagh won two senior county championship medals with the Downs club. Murtagh made his debut on the inter-county scene at the age of fifteen when he was selected for the Westmeath minor team. All-Ireland Under-21 B Hurling Championship
The GAA Hurling All-Ireland Under-20 (previously Under-21) B Championship, the second tier competition in hurling is an annual series of games for male players under the age of 20 and is organized by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). The 2019 competition was the first at the Under 20 age level. The final is currently played in April or May and the winning county receive the Richie McElligott Cup, which is named in honour of the late great Kerry stalwart Richie McElligott of the Lixnaw club and was first presented in 2015. The championship is played on a straight knockout basis whereby once a team loses they are eliminated. Teams that are deemed ineligible or "too weak" for the GAA Hurling All-Ireland Under-20 Championship participate in the B championship. The competition is ranked below the Walsh Cup and features second and third tier counties from Leinster, Ulster, Connacht and selected university teams. The Kehoe Cup ( ; ga, Corn Mhic Eochaidh) is an annual hurling competition organised by the Leinster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association ( GAA) since 1977 for second- and third-tier inter-county teams in the province of Leinster in Ireland. Nowadays, teams from the provinces of Ulster and Connacht are eligible to compete; formerly, teams from third-level institutions within the three provinces also did. 2005 Christy Ring Cup
The 2005 Christy Ring Cup was the inaugural staging of the Christy Ring Cup, the Gaelic Athletic Association's second-tier hurling championship. Competing teams, from Connacht, Leinster, Munster and Ulster were divided into two groups of five, in which teams played each other only once, meaning two home games and two away games per team. The top two teams of each group qualified for the knock-out stages. On 14 August 2005, Westmeath won the Christy Ring Cup following a 1-23 to 2-18 defeat of Down in the final. The GAA Interprovincial Championship ( ga, An Corn Idir-Chúigeach) or Railway Cup (''Corn an Iarnróid'') is the name of two annual Gaelic football and hurling competitions held between the provinces of Ireland.
