Brendan Mackay
Brendan Mackay (born 7 June 1997) is a Canadian freestyle skier who competes internationally in the half-pipe A half-pipe is a structure used in gravity extreme sports such as snowboarding, skateboarding, skiing, freestyle BMX, skating, and scooter riding. Career Mackay has been part of the national team since 2015. During the 2021–22 World Cup Season, Mackay won medals in all three events: bronze in Copper Mountain followed by back-to-back gold medals in Calgary, leading him to finish first in the overall halfpipe standings. On January 24, 2022, Mackay was named to Canada's 2022 Olympic team in the halfpipe event. Canada competed at the 2022 Winter Olympics. The 2022 Winter Olympics were held in Beijing, China, from 4 to 20 February 2022. Canada has competed at all 24 editions of the Winter Olympics. On November 17, 2020 two time Olympic gold medallist in speed skating Catriona Le May Doan was named as chef de mission of the delegation. The Canadian team consisted of 215 athletes (109 men and 106 women) competing in 14 sports. Canada will not have any representation in the sport of nordic combined. This will be the third largest Canadian Winter Olympic team after 2014 (222 athletes) and 2018 (225 athletes). The full delegation consisted of 414 people including athletes, coaches, officials and staff. FIS Freestyle Ski And Snowboarding World Championships 2023
The 2023 FIS Freestyle Ski and Snowboarding World Championships are held in Bakuriani, Georgia from 19 February to 4 March 2023. This marks the first ever snow sports World Championships to be contested in Georgia. A total of 30 medal events are on the program, with 16 being contested in the freestyle and freeski disciplines and 14 in snowboarding. Host selection In April 2017, the Georgian Ski Federation officially submitted a bid to host the event. In May 2018 at the annual FIS congress in Greece, Bakuriani was selected unanimously as the official host city for the event. Bakuriani was the only candidate to host the event.
