Brendan Griffin (Kerry Politician)
Brendan Griffin (born 14 March 1982) is an Irish Fine Gael politician who has been a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Kerry constituency since 2016, and previously from 2011 to 2016 for the Kerry South constituency. He has served as Deputy chief whip since July 2020, and previously served as Minister of State for Tourism and Sport from 2017 to 2020. Political career Early political career Griffin is a former member of Kerry County Council, representing the Dingle local electoral area from 2009 to 2011. He was the subject of controversy for hiring his wife Róisín as his secretarial assistant and his brother Tommy Griffin as his parliamentary assistant. A Teachta Dála ( , ; plural ), abbreviated as TD (plural ''TDanna'' in Irish, TDs in English), is a member of Dáil Éireann, the lower house of the Oireachtas (the Irish Parliament). It is the equivalent of terms such as ''Member of Parliament'' (MP) or '' Member of Congress'' used in other countries. Shane Peter Nathaniel Ross (born 11 July 1949) is a former Irish Independent politician who served as Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport from May 2016 to June 2020. The Taoiseach is the head of government, or prime minister, of Republic of Ireland, Ireland. Arthur Spring (born 5 July 1976) is an Irish former Labour Party politician who served as a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Kerry North–West Limerick constituency from 2011 to 2016. He is a nephew of Dick Spring, a former TD for Kerry North and Labour Party leader, and grandson of Labour TD Dan Spring. He was educated at the Dublin Institute of Technology. Spring was elected to Kerry County Council and Tralee Town Council in 2009, and is a former Mayor of Tralee.
