The View (band)
The View are a Scottish indie rock band. They incorporate various styles such as punk, pop, alternative rock, and folk in their music. They are best known for their 2007 single "Same Jeans" which reached number 3 on the UK Singles Chart. The band have released five studio albums since their platinum selling debut ''Hats Off to the Buskers'', which topped the UK Albums Chart in January 2007 and was nominated for the 2007 Mercury Music Prize. Despite never matching this early success, they enjoy a large fanbase in their native Scotland with albums regularly topping the Scottish Albums Chart. Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. 1965 Records is a London-based subsidiary record label of SonyBMG. Formed in 2006 in British music, 2006, the label was founded by James Endeacott (formerly of Rough Trade Records), who first signed The Libertines. Martin Glover
Martin Glover (born 27 December 1960), better known by his stage name Youth, is a British record producer and musician, best known as a founding member and bassist of the rock band Killing Joke. He is also a member of the Fireman, along with Paul McCartney. Early career Martin Glover was born on 27 December 1960 in Slough, at that point part of Buckinghamshire, England. He attended Kingham Hill School, an independent private school in Oxfordshire, where he met Alex Paterson, who would become a roadie for Glover's band Killing Joke, and later founder of The Orb. Naming himself "Youth" after the roots reggae Rastafari chanter Big Youth, in 1977 he joined punk rock band the Rage, who toured with the Adverts. ''Which Bitch?'' is the second album from Scottish band The View which was released 2 February 2009. Paolo Nutini guests on the track "Covers". "Gem of a Bird" is about Kyle Falconer's girlfriend Katie Gwyther, with whom the song is a duet. The album received mixed reviews from critics and debuted at number 4 on the official UK Albums chart in its first week of release, but in stark contrast to its predecessor ''Hats Off to the Buskers'' it dropped down the charts quickly and spent two weeks in the UK top 40; it fell to No. 27 in its second week before dropping out altogether. Three singles were released from the album but all failed to reach the top 40; " 5 Rebbecca's" and " Shock Horror" charted at No. 57 and #64 respectively. Metacritic is a website that review aggregator, aggregates reviews of films, TV shows, music albums, video games and formerly, books. For each product, the scores from each review are averaged (a weighted arithmetic mean, weighted average). Metacritic was created by Jason Dietz, Marc Doyle, and Julie Doyle Roberts in 1999. The site provides an excerpt from each review and hyperlinks to its source. A color of green, yellow or red summarizes the critics' recommendations. It is regarded as the foremost online review aggregation site for the video game industry. The Official Albums Chart is a list of albums ranked by physical and digital sales and (from March 2015) audio streaming in the United Kingdom. It was published for the first time on 22 July 1956 and is compiled every week by the Official Charts Company (OCC) on Fridays (previously Sundays). It is broadcast on BBC Radio 1 (top 5) and found on the OCC website as a Top 100 or on UKChartsPlus as a Top 200, with positions continuing until all sales have been tracked in data only available to industry insiders. However, even though number 100 was classed as a hit album (as in the case of The Guinness Book of British Hit Albums) in the 1980s until January 1989, since the compilations were removed this definition was changed to Top 75 with follow-up books such as The Virgin Book of British Hit Albums book only including this data.
