1965 Records is a London-based subsidiary record label of SonyBMG. Formed in 2006, the label was founded by James Endeacott (formerly of Rough Trade Records), who first signed The Libertines. The label features bands who are primarily indie rock/ pop, and are best known for signing Dundee based four-piece The View. History 1965 Records took their name from the year of Endeacott's birth, as well as his favourite year for music. Originating in May 2006, the company initially releasing five separate limited edition 7-inch vinyl singles by Jack Afro, Billie the Vision & the Dancers, Pizzy Yelliot, The Book of Lists and Jahcoozi in the first three months of its creation between May and July. Jahcoozi is a German electronic music group made up of London-born, Sri Lankan-heritage songwriter and frontwoman Sasha Perera and two producers and instrumentalists, Robot Koch and Tel Aviv-born Oren Gerlitz. The band met and formed in Berlin in 2002 and have released three albums. History In 2005, Jahcoozi were signed by Kitty-Yo, the Berlin-based mother label of Peaches. Later that year, they released the "Black Barbie" picture-disc vinyl and a full-length debut album entitled ''Pure Breed Mongrel''. Deltasonic
Deltasonic is a British record label based in Liverpool, England. Previously joint ventured with Sony Music, it is now totally independent. It was formed by Alan Wills, the former drummer with Liverpool bands Shack and Top, and associated with the ' cosmic Scouse' and 'scallydelica' music scenes. History Aiming to be like Mo'Wax, Wills started his first label EVA in January 2000, primarily to release material by Joe Fearon a.k.a. Paracruzar. However, after three promo-only releases on clear 10-inch vinyl, including the first release by 'Mountaineers' (credited on the record as 'The Sandpeople'), he decided to move on to new areas and, with the help of his partner Ann Heston and consultancy from Simon Duffy (Tri Tone), he started a new label called Deltasonic Records. ''Hats Off to the Buskers'' is the debut album by Scottish band The View. It was released on 22 January 2007 on 1965 Records. It was reported on the band's official forum that the album had leaked to various internet sites in mid December 2006. The album entered the UK Albums Chart at 1 on 28 January 2007. The album charted at No. 45 on the UK end-of-year album chart, after selling around 319,000 copies in 2007. The album has been certified platinum. It was nominated for the 2007 Mercury Prize. The song "Wasteland" is also the background music for the Nike "Show Us Your 5" advertisement. Reception Initial critical response to ''Hats Off to the Buskers'' was positive. ''Drowned in Sound'', sometimes abbreviated to ''DiS'', is a UK-based music webzine financed by artist management company Silentway. Founded by editor Sean Adams, the site features reviews, news, interviews, and discussion forums. History ''DiS'' began as an email fanzine in 1998 called ''The Last Resort'' but was relaunched by founder and editor Sean Adams as ''Drowned in Sound'' in 2000. The freelance writing team is currently spread across four continents – North America, Asia, Europe and Australasia. "Same Jeans" is the third single by Dundee band the View, appearing on their debut album, ''Hats Off to the Buskers'' (2007). It was Radio 1's Jo Whiley's record of the week commencing 27 November 2006 and was released on 15 January 2007. It followed the singles "Wasted Little DJs" and " Superstar Tradesman" and was the third and final release before the album on 22 January 2007. The song received significantly more airplay than the previous singles, and it was the first single by the band to enter the BBC Radio 2 playlist as well as the first single to be A-listed by BBC Radio 1. It entered the UK Singles Chart at number 11 on downloads alone before rising to number three the following week. Ripchord was an English four piece rock band, formed in 2004 in Wolverhampton. The band supported acts such as The Kooks, Babyshambles and The Kaiser Chiefs. They took their name from the Radiohead song ‘Ripcord’ with an added 'h'. The band was signed to 1965 Records and released two singles - Lock Up Your Daughters (And Throw Away The Key) & Backstabber, the first of which was a limited edition single of only 1,000 copies. The Draytones
The Draytones were an Anglo-Argentine music group formed in London, England in 2006. The same year they signed a record deal with 1965 Records, an independent record label based in London. History The Draytones were formed by Argentina, Argentine guitarist Gabriel Boccazzi (from Buenos Aires) and drummer Luke Richardson (from Grimsby) in London Borough of Camden, Camden, London in 2006. The pair were introduced by the owner of the famous Bethnal Green live music venue The Pleasure Unit, Nigerian Nick 'The Kick'. The Law (Scotland Band)
The Law are a Scottish indie rock band from Dundee, Scotland. Their debut album '' A Measure of Wealth'' was released in September 2009 through their own record label Local Boy Records (distributed by Universal via Absolute). The first single to precede the album, "Don't Stop, Believe", was released on 20 July 2009. The second single to precede the album, "The Chase" was released on 14 September 2009. Covermount (sometimes written cover mount) is the name given to storage media (containing software and or audiovisual media) or other products (ranging from toys to flip-flops) packaged as part of a magazine or newspaper. The name comes from the method of packaging; the media or product is placed in a transparent plastic sleeve and mounted on the cover of the magazine with adhesive tape or glue. History Audio recordings were distributed in the UK by the use of covermounts in the 1960s by the fortnightly satirical magazine ''Private Eye'' though the term "covermount" was not in usage at that time.
