Brazil–Peru Integration Bridge
The Brazil-Peru Integration Bridge (Portuguese: Ponte da Integração Brasil–Peru, Spanish: ''Puente de la Integración Brasil-Perú)'' is a bridge that crosses the Acre River at a point which forms the Brazil-Peru border, international border between Peru and Brazil. The bridge is part of highway BR-317, and connects the Peruvian city Iñapari to the Brazilian city Assis Brasil. The bridge is very close to the Bolivian city Bolpebra. During the COVID-19 Pandemic, the bridge was closed by Peruvian authorities due to Peru closing its terrestrial border crossings to limit the spread of the virus. On 26 September 2021, residents of Assis Brasil and Iñapari protested on the bridge and demanded its reopening citing economic struggles following its closure. Acre River
The Acre River (called Aquiry in the local Iñapari language; locally, ''Rio Acre'') is a long river in central South America. Course The river is born in Peru, and runs North-Eastwards, forming part of the border between Peru and Brazil and then part of the border between Bolivia and Brazil. It runs through the Brazilian states of Acre (state), Acre and Amazonas (Brazilian state), Amazonas, before eventually running into the Purus River at Boca do Acre. The Brazil–Peru border is the line, located in the Amazon Rainforest, that limits the territories of Brazil and Peru. The Brazilian states of Amazonas and Acre border the eastern Peruvian regions of Loreto, Ucayali and Madre de Dios. Part of the limit was established in the Treaty of Rio de Janeiro in 1909.
