Braz Cubas (CPTM)
Braz Cubas is a train station on CPTM Line 11-Coral, located in the city of Mogi das Cruzes. Built next to Avenida Anchieta, the station in close to the commercial center of the district of Brás Cubas, the most populous in Mogi. History Braz Cubas station was opened by EFCB as a telegraph post on 20 August 1914. Since 1994, it is operated by CPTM. The station was a scene of a national commotion crime: on 8 December 2003, two youngsters were thrown through the windows of a train that was leaving Braz Cubas station by 3 skinheads. One of the youngsters died and the other one lost his arm. Side Platform
A side platform (also known as a marginal platform or a single-face platform) is a platform positioned to the side of one or more railway tracks or guideways at a railway station, tram stop, or transitway. A station having dual side platforms, one for each direction of travel, is the basic design used for double-track railway lines (as opposed to, for instance, the island platform where a single platform lies between the tracks). The Estrada de Ferro Central do Brasil was one of the principal railways of Brazil, uniting the states of Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Minas Gerais. Origins On 9 February 1855, The imperial government of Brazil signed a contract with Edward Price for the construction of the first section of a railway which had the aim of linking the court (then in the city of Rio de Janeiro) with the provinces of São Paulo and Minas Gerais. It was constituted as the ''Companhia de Estrada de Ferro Dom Pedro II'', under the directorship of Christiano Benedicto Ottoni.
