Bolnisi ( ka, ბოლნისის მუნიციპალიტეტი, ''Bolnisis munitsip’alit’et’i'') is a municipality in Georgia's southern region of Kvemo Kartli, covering an area of . As of 2021 it had a population of 56,036 people. The city of Bolnisi is its administrative centre. Geographical location Bolnisi Municipality is situated in the south of the country and shares a border with Armenia. The highest point is Mt Loki at above sea level. Bolnisi
Bolnisi ( ka, ბოლნისი, az, Qəmərli), is a city in the country of Georgia, located in the Kvemo Kartli region and capital of the Bolnisi district. It currently has an estimated 13,800 inhabitants. History Bolnisi was settled by 95 German colonist families from Swabia in 1818, whilst part of the Georgia Governorate of the Russian Empire. Upon the arrival of the German colonists, the town was renamed ''Yekaterinenfeld'' (russian: Екатериненфельд; ) in honor of the sister of Tsar Alexander I, Ekaterina Pavlovna, who was married to the King of Württemberg. Some eight years later, Yekaterinenfeld was pillaged by what were described as "Tartars", who burned down the German colony and massacred many of its inhabitants. In the early 20th century, Yekaterinenfeld had a mainly German and Russian population of 2,332. Georgian (, , ) is the most widely-spoken Kartvelian language, and serves as the literary language or lingua franca for speakers of related languages. It is the official language of Georgia and the native or primary language of 87.6% of its population. Its speakers today number approximately four million. Talaveri ( ka, ტალავერი, az, Faxralı) is a village in the Bolnisi Municipality of the Kvemo Kartli region, Georgia. Geographical location Talaveri is situated in the southwestern part of country, at 560 metres above sea level. Tamarisi
Tamarisi is a '' daba'' (Urban-type settlement) in southern Georgia with almost 700 residents (2021 , located in Bolnisi Municipality (Kvemo Kartli region). Tamarisi is located 7 kilometers west of the city of Marneuli, on the Georgian S6 highway ( E117). Five kilometers to the south is the larger village of Tamarisi, which belongs to the municipality of Marneuli, with which it should not be confused. Background Tamarisi is located between the villages of Parizi and Tsurtavi and was established in 1982 with the establishment of a large poultry factory, on the south side of the S6 highway, to house its labourforce. It immediately acquired the status of an urban-type settlement ('' daba'') when it was founded. A decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the Georgian SSR decided to do so on March 30, 1982, which also assigned the name Tamarisi. Kazreti
Kazreti ( ka, კაზრეთი) is a daba in Bolnisi Municipality, in the region of Kvemo Kartli, in Georgia. Its primary economic activity is mining. The largest employer in Kazreti is JSC RMG Copper. Gold and copper are the principal precious metals extracted at the mines in Kazreti. Historical research done in Georgia has shown that gold was mined in the area thousands of years ago. It has been speculated that the earliest gold mine in the world was the Sakdrisi site on the outskirts of Kazreti. The mine in Kazreti was developed in 1970 during the Soviet era. From 1970 until the collapse of the Soviet Union, Kazreti was generally known in Georgia as being a cosmopolitan village, inhabited by workers from the various Soviet republics.
