Friedrich Boie (4 June 1789 – 3 March 1870) was a German entomologist, herpetologist, ornithologist, and lawyer.Beolens, Bo; Watkins, Michael; Grayson, Michael (2011). Heinrich Boie
Heinrich Boie (4 May 1794, Meldorf, Holstein – 4 September 1827, Bogor, West Java, Indonesia) was a German zoologist. He was the brother of Friedrich Boie. In the field of herpetology they described 49 new species of reptiles and several new species of amphibians. Heinrich Boie studied law at Kiel and Göttingen. At university he became interested in natural history through the lectures of Johann Friedrich Blumenbach and Friedrich Tiedemann. He was appointed Coenraad Jacob Temminck's assistant at Leiden. In 1825 he travelled to Java with Salomon Müller in order to collect specimens for the museum. He died there of gall fever. A species of Indian gecko, ''Cnemaspis boiei'', is named in honor of Heinrich Boie or his brother Friedrich Boie.Beolens, Bo; Watkins, Michael; Grayson, Michael (2011). Heinrich Christian Boie
Heinrich Christian Boie (19 July 1744 – 3 March 1806) was a German author. He was born at Meldorf in Holstein (at the time a part of the Danish monarchy). After studying law at Jena, he went in 1769 to Göttingen, where he became one of the leading spirits in the Göttingen "Dichterbund" or "Hain." Boie's poetic talent was mediocre, but his thorough knowledge of literature, his taste and judgment, made him an inspiration to others. Together with FW Gotter he founded in 1770 the ''Göttingen Musenalmanach'', which he directed and edited until 1775, when, in conjunction with CW von Dohm (1751–1820), he brought out ''Das deutsche Museum'', which became one of the best literary periodicals of the day. Kirsten Boie (; born ) is a German children's author and activist. Having worked as a teacher, she began publishing in 1985 and is the author of more than 100 books. Among her best-known works are ''Paule ist ein Glücksgriff'', the ''Kinder aus dem Möwenweg'' series, and ''Ritter Trenk''. She has been recognised with the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany and an honorary citizenship of Hamburg. Biography Kirsten Boie was born in 1950 in Hamburg, Germany. Between 1969 and 1974, she read German and English literature at the University of Hamburg. She then worked as a teacher at a secondary school before starting her publishing career in 1985.
