Bobby Pacho
Robert Pacho (August 1, 1911 – May 1, 1978) was an American professional boxing, boxer who competed from 1928 to 1941, twice challenging for the welterweight world title in 1939. After Bert Colima's career was over, Pacho was Mexican fans' most popular boxer. Early life Pacho broke into the professional boxing ranks while working as a farm mechanic in El Centro, California. Professional career Pacho fought many well known fighters during his career, including legends Barney Ross, and Henry Armstrong. His career lasted from 1929–1941 and his professional record was 78-67-15 with 37 Knockouts. His two bouts with Henry Armstrong were for the world Welterweight title, one held in Havana, Cuba. Pacho lost both by fourth round technical knockout. Henry Armstrong
Henry Jackson Jr. (December 12, 1912 – October 22, 1988) was an American professional boxer and a world boxing champion who fought under the name Henry Armstrong. He is the only fighter to ever hold world championships in three divisions (featherweight, lightweight and welterweight) simultaneously. Armstrong was one of the few fighters to win titles in three or more different divisions: featherweight, lightweight, and welterweight. He defended his welterweight title a total of nineteen times. ''The Ring'' magazine named him Fighter of the Year in 1937. The Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA) named him Fighter of the Year in 1940. Barney Ross
Barney Ross (born Dov-Ber "Beryl" David Rosofsky; December 23, 1909 – January 17, 1967) was an American professional boxer. Ross became a world champion in three weight divisions and was a decorated veteran of World War II. In his time, he was known as the Pride of the Ghetto. Early life Dov-Ber (or Beryl) Rosofsky was born in New York City to Isidore "Itchik" Rosofsky and Sarah Epstein Rosofsky. His father was a Talmudic scholar who had emigrated to America from his native Brest-Litovsk after barely surviving a pogrom. The family then moved from New York to Chicago. Isidore became a rabbi and owner of a small vegetable shop in Chicago's Maxwell Street neighborhood, a vibrant Jewish ghetto akin to the New York's Lower East Side of the 1920s and '30s. El Centro ( Spanish for "The Center") is a city and county seat of Imperial County, California, United States.
