''Black Venus'' is a 1983 softcore erotic melodrama film directed by Claude Mulot. It purportedly is based on an unspecified short story by Honoré de Balzac. It was produced by Playboy Enterprises and originally aired in an edited 80-minute version on the Playboy Channel; an uncut English-dubbed version was released on DVD in 2006. Plot When wealthy art collector Jacques ( Emiliano Redondo) visits a Parisian brothel operated by Madame Lili (Mandy Rice-Davies), he recognizes one of the prostitutes as Venus (Josephine Jacqueline Jones), a black Martinican woman. Claude Mulot (1942–1986) was a French screenwriter and film director who mainly specialized in adult films, but also made various attempts in other genres like horror films (''The Blood Rose''), comedies (''Le jour se lève et les conneries commencent'') and thrillers (''Le Couteau sous la gorge''). Dark skin is a type of human skin color that is rich in melanin pigments. People with very dark skin are often referred to as "black people", although this usage can be ambiguous in some countries where it is also used to specifically refer to different ethnic groups or populations. Helga Liné (; born Helga Lina Stern on 14 July 1932) is a German-born Portuguese-Spanish-American film actress and circus acrobat best known for her work in the horror genre of film.
