Bjørn Simensen
Bjørn Erik Simensen (born 28 June 1947) is a Norwegian culture administrator and former journalist. He is known as director of the Norwegian National Opera from 1984 to 1990 and 1997 to 2009. He was born in Lillehammer. Starting his career as a journalist, he worked in '' Fredriksstad Blad'' and then in ''Sunnmørsposten'' from 1966 to 1972. He then worked as a culture administrator. First, 1973 to 1980, he worked in Sandefjord municipality. He then became director of Gothenburg Concert Hall from 1980 to 1984, then of the Gothenburg Symphony before his first period as director of the Norwegian National Opera, from 1984 to 1990. He was editor-in-chief for the national newspaper ''Dagbladet'' from 1990 to 1995 before returning to the National Opera. He oversaw the construction of the Oslo Opera House, which was opened in 2008. He stepped down in 2009. Norwegian National Opera And Ballet
The Norwegian National Opera and Ballet ( no, Den Norske Opera & Ballett, links=no) is a Norwegian opera company and ballet company. The first fully professional company each for opera and ballet in Norway and the only such professional organisation in the country, it is currently resident at the Oslo Opera House, since the spring of 2008. History Founded in 1957, the company had Kirsten Flagstad as its first general manager, from 1958 to 1960, and placed an emphasis on presenting operas and ballets written by Norwegian composers, and Norwegian as the standard language of the opera singers. Subsequent general managers have included Bjørn Simensen. The Ballet School at the Norwegian National Opera & Ballet was founded in 1965. Harald Stanghelle (born 13 January 1956) is a Norwegian newspaper editor. Career He was born in Vaksdal. He started his career as a journalist when still a teenager, and left school after primary school. His first role was that of editor of ''Vaksdalsnytt'' at the age of 19. He was then a journalist in ''Arbeiderbladet'' from 1982 to 1991, and in ''Aftenposten'' from 1991. Here he spent one year as news editor, from 1994 to 1995, before being editor-in-chief for the national newspaper ''Dagbladet'' from 1995 to 2000. In 2000 he became political editor of ''Aftenposten''. In 2009 he was elected as chair of the Association of Norwegian Editors, succeeding Stein Gauslaa. Arve Solstad
Arve Solstad (15 November 1935 – 3 June 2016) was a Norwegian newspaper editor. He was born in Orkdal as a son of farmer Johan Solstad (1896–1989) and Marit Skauge (1910–2000). He finished his secondary education in Orkdal in 1955, worked one year as editor-in-chief of '' Akershus Folkeblad'' before enrolling in studies of political science at the University of Oslo. He wrote for the newspaper ''Dagbladet'', including summaries of debates in the Norwegian Students' Society. He was hired permanently in ''Dagbladet'' after graduation in 1964. Also, in 1961 he married nurse Inger Marie Richter. He won the Narvesen Prize for journalism already in 1968. From 1969 to 1973 he was the political editor of the newspaper, and in 1973 he became editor-in-chief. Oslo Opera House
The Oslo Opera House ( no, Operahuset) is the home of the Norwegian National Opera and Ballet, and the national opera theatre in Norway. The building is situated in the Bjørvika neighbourhood of central Oslo, at the head of the Oslofjord. It is operated by Statsbygg, the government agency which manages property for the Norwegian government. The structure contains 1,100 rooms in a total area of . Gothenburg Symphony
The Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra (GSO; sv, Göteborgs Symfoniker) is a Swedish symphony orchestra based in Gothenburg. The GSO is resident at the Gothenburg Concert Hall at Götaplatsen. The orchestra received the title of the National Orchestra of Sweden ( sv, Sveriges Nationalorkester) in 1997. Background and history The GSO was founded in 1905, with Heinrich Hammer as its first principal conductor. The composer Wilhelm Stenhammar was the orchestra's second principal conductor, from 1907 to 1922.
