Oslo Opera House
The Oslo Opera House ( no, Operahuset) is the home of the Norwegian National Opera and Ballet, and the national opera theatre in Norway. The building is situated in the Bjørvika neighbourhood of central Oslo, at the head of the Oslofjord. It is operated by Statsbygg, the government agency which manages property for the Norwegian government. The structure contains 1,100 rooms in a total area of . The main auditorium seats 1,364 and two other performance spaces can seat 200 and 400. The main stage is wide and deep. The angled exterior surfaces of the building are covered with marble from Carrara, Italy and white granite and make it appear to rise from the water. ''She Lies'' is a public sculpture by Monica Bonvicini made of stainless steel and glass panels measuring approximately by by next to the Oslo Opera House, in Norway. Kristian Blystad (born 18 March 1946) is a Norwegian sculptor. Career He was born in Bergen. Among his works is the fountain sculpture ''Kronos'' at Majorstuen, Oslo. A granite sculpture of Wilhelm Frimann Koren Christie was erected in front of the Parliament of Norway in 1989. A statue of Christian Frederik was unveiled in front of the Parliament in May 2014. Monica Bonvicini
Monica Bonvicini (born 1965 in Venice) is an Italian artist. In her work, Bonvicini investigates the relationship between power structures, gender and space. She works intermediately with installation, sculpture, video, photography and drawing mediums. Her works have been featured at the Berlin Biennale, the Istanbul Biennial, and the Venice Biennale. Carrara marble, Luna marble to the Romans, is a type of white or blue-grey marble popular for use in sculpture and building decor.
