Björn Bjuggren
Lieutenant General Björn Gustaf Eriksson Bjuggren, “Bjuggas”, (29 January 1904 – 4 April 1968) was a Swedish Air Force officer and aviator. Bjuggren senior commands include wing commander of the Jämtland Wing, head of the Royal Swedish Air Force Staff College and commanding officer of the First Air Group. After his active military career, he served as War Materials Inspector and head of the National Swedish War Materials Inspectorate. Early life Bjuggren was born on 29 January 1904 in Karlsborg, Sweden, the son of colonel (1874–1963) and his wife Ketty (née Ellsén). He passed ''studentexamen'' in Stockholm in 1922. Career Bjuggren was commissioned as an officer in 1924. He attended the Artillery and Engineering College from 1926 to 1928 and various flight schools in 1928, 1930 and in 1933. Air Staff ( sv, Flygstaben, FS) is the staff of the Chief of the Swedish Air Force. It was officially established in 1936 as a result of the Defence Act of 1936 and would handle matters of a general nature. The Air Staff's duties included, among other things to assist the Chief of the Air Force with leadership of the Air Force's mobilization, training, tactics, organization, equipment and personnel to the extent that such activity was not directly related to operational activities, which was then handled by the Defence Staff. Caproni, also known as ''Società de Agostini e Caproni'' and ''Società Caproni e Comitti'', was an Italian aircraft manufacturer. Its main base of operations was at Taliedo, near Linate Airport, on the outskirts of Milan. Founded by Giovanni Battista "Gianni" Caproni during 1908, the company produced several successful heavy bombers during the First World War. Flying Regiment 19, Finnish Air Force
The Flight Regiment 19 ( sv, Flygflottilj 19, fi, Lentorykmentti 19 or ), also known as the Swedish Voluntary Air Force or F 19 was a Finnish Air Force unit, manned by Swedish volunteers, which operated from Kemi in northern Finland for the last 62 days of the Winter War. The aircraft also came from the Swedish Air Force inventory. Its designation number was taken from the Swedish Air Force which had 18 flying regiments at the time. The designation F 19 has not been used in Sweden. When new regiments were formed they were named F 20, F 21 and F 22. The unit made a significant contribution to the defense of Finnish Lapland, from January 7, 1940, with 12 Gloster Gladiator II fighters, five Hawker Hart bombers, and eight other planes. Dive Bomber
A dive bomber is a bomber aircraft that dives directly at its targets in order to provide greater accuracy for the bomb it drops. Diving towards the target simplifies the bomb's trajectory and allows the pilot to keep visual contact throughout the bomb run. This allows attacks on point targets and ships, which were difficult to attack with conventional level bombers, even ''en masse''. After World War II, the rise of precision-guided munitions and improved anti-aircraft defences—both fixed gunnery positions and fighter interception—led to a fundamental change in dive bombing. New weapons, such as rockets, allowed for better accuracy from smaller dive angles and from greater distances.
