Biswa Bandhu Sen
Biswa Bandhu Sen (born 23 May 1953) is an Indian politician. He serves as speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assembly. He won three consecutive elections, representing the 56-Dharmanagar constituency of North Tripura district. Prior to the 2018 Tripura Legislative Assembly election Sen won twice on the Congress ticket. Dharmanagar
Dharmanagar or (''Dhôrmônôgôr'') is a town with a municipal council in the northeast of India. It is the administrative center for North Tripura district, located in the northernmost region of the state near the Assam border on the west and the India-Bangladesh border on the east. It is the second largest urban area in the state, which make it one of the important commercial centre. The juri river pass through the town. History Majority of the known history of Dharmanagar is derived from the ancient Rajmala scripts, which is the ancient Royal chronicles of the Kings of Tripura written in the 14th century. The origin of the name 'Dharmanagar' cannot be accurately traced back in time. The Rajmala refers to at least four known ancient kings whose names include the word 'Dharma'. North Tripura is an administrative district in the state of Tripura in India. The district headquarters are located at Dharmanagar. The district occupies an area of 1422.19 km² and has a population of 693,947 (as of 2011). History The territory occupied by North Tripura district was part of the princely state of Tripura until 9 September 1949, when it was merged with the Union of India. The district came into existence on 1 September 1970, when the entire state was divided into three districts. On 14 April. 1995 Dhalai district was carved out from this district. Tripura was divided into four districts but with effect from 21 January 2012 four more new districts was divided making a total of eight districts in the state. 2018 Tripura Legislative Assembly Election
The 2018 Tripura Legislative Assembly election was held on 18 February for 59 of the state's 60 constituencies. The counting of votes took place on 3 March 2018. With 43.59% of the vote, the BJP secured a majority of seats (36) and subsequently formed the government with Biplab Kumar Deb as Chief Minister.
