Commonwealth Realm
A Commonwealth realm is a sovereign state in the Commonwealth of Nations whose monarch and head of state is shared among the other realms. Each realm functions as an independent state, equal with the other realms and nations of the Commonwealth. King Charles III succeeded his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, as monarch of each Commonwealth realm following her death on 8 September 2022. He simultaneously became Head of the Commonwealth. there are 15 Commonwealth realms: Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, The Bahamas, Belize, Canada, Grenada, Jamaica, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Solomon Islands, Tuvalu, and the United Kingdom. George Castledine
George Castledine, FRCN (died 12 October 2018) was a British nursing educator and nursing consultant. George Castledine won a scholarship to Oxford University, later attending Liverpool University. He worked as a staff nurse before relocating to the Manchester Royal Infirmary to be charge nurse in a trauma unit as well as lecturer. He was a Fellow of the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) from 1980. Castledine moved to Wrexham, Wales, setting up the first nursing degree course linked to Cardiff Medical School: he established the Department of Nursing at the North East Wales Institute of Higher Education, now Glyndŵr University. He later moved to Birmingham as Assistant Dean and Professor of Nursing/Community Health at the University of Central England (now known as Birmingham City University). David Melville (academic)
Sir David Melville, (born 4 April 1944) is a British physicist, academic, academic administrator, and public servant. He was Vice-Chancellor of Middlesex University from 1991 to 1996, Chief executive of the Further Education Funding Council for England from 1996 to 2001, and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kent from 2001 to 2007. Early life and education Melville was born on 4 April 1944 in Gateshead, Durham, England. He was educated at Clitheroe Royal Grammar School, then an all-boys grammar school in Clitheroe, Lancashire. He studied physics at the University of Sheffield, graduating with a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in 1965; he was the first of his family to attend university. West Midlands Police
West Midlands Police is the territorial police force responsible for policing the metropolitan county of West Midlands in England. The force covers an area of with 2.93million inhabitants, which includes the cities of Birmingham, Coventry, Wolverhampton and also the Black Country. In 2020, there were 6,846 officers, 484 police community support officers (PCSO), and 219 volunteer special constables. The force is currently led by Chief Constable Dave Thompson. Sir Paul Joseph Scott-Lee QPM DL is a retired British police officer who served as Chief Constable of Suffolk Constabulary and West Midlands Police. Early life and career Scott-Lee was born in Coventry, and educated at Whitley Abbey Comprehensive School. Scott-Lee joined Warwickshire and Coventry Constabulary on direct from school, and on amalgamation of local forces to form the West Midlands Police in 1974, he rose to the rank of Chief Inspector. Promoted to Superintendent in 1988 in Northamptonshire Police, he became an area commander and latterly allocated to headquarters on both corporate planning and quality assurance. He then became assistant chief constable in August 1992 in Kent Constabulary, responsible for all personnel and training matters. Professor Sir Brian John Hoskins, Commander of the Order of the British Empire, CBE Fellow of the Royal Society, FRS, (born 17 May 1945) is a British atmospheric dynamics, dynamical meteorologist and climatologist based at the Imperial College London and the University of Reading. A mathematician by training, his research has focused on understanding atmospheric motion from the scale of weather front, fronts to that of the Earth, using a range of theoretical and numerical models. He is perhaps best known for his work on the mathematical theory of extratropical cyclones and frontogenesis, particularly through the use of potential vorticity. Bartle Bogle Hegarty (BBH) is a British global advertising agency. Founded in 1982 by British ad men John Bartle, Nigel Bogle, and John Hegarty, BBH has offices in London, New York City, Singapore, Shanghai, Mumbai, Stockholm and Los Angeles and employs more than 1,000 staff worldwide. Charles Gray (Scottish Politician)
Sir Charles Ireland Gray (25 January 1929 – 10 February 2023) was a Scottish Labour Party politician. Life and career Charles Gray was born on 25 January 1929. He joined the Labour Party at age 16. Gray rose to become leader of Strathclyde Regional Council from 1986 to 1992 and President of the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities. In November 2013, Gray announced that he planned to vote 'Yes' in the 2014 Scottish independence referendum A referendum on Scottish independence from the United Kingdom was held in Scotland on 18 September 2014.
