Birke Haylom
Birke Haylom (born 6 January 2006) is an Ethiopian long-distance runner. She won gold at the 1500 metres at the 2022 World Athletics U20 Championships. In February 2023 she won a silver medal in the mixed relay at the 2023 World Athletics Cross Country Championships. She is the U20 world record holder in the mile run, 5000 metres, and 1500 metres indoors. Career Haylom won the gold medal in the 1500 metres at the 2022 World Athletics U20 Championships in Cali, Colombia in August 2022. She ran a championship record time of 4:04.27. In February 2023 she won a silver medal in the mixed relay at the 2023 World Athletics Cross Country Championships, held in Bathurst, Australia. Her Ethiopia team completed the course in 23:21, with Haylom racing alongside Adehana Kasaye, Hawi Abera, and Getnet Wale. 2023 Diamond League
The 2023 Diamond League is the 14th season of the annual series of outdoor track and field meetings, organised by World Athletics. The competition is a revision to the top level athletics series since Diamond League foundation in 2010. The number of Diamond Discipline events is 32, and the dual-meet final format was due to be replaced by a single final, which would have reduced the number of meetings to 14. Each meeting will host a number of Diamond Discipline events according to allocation and some of these events will not be broadcast. The 2024 BAUHAUS-galan was the 58th edition of the annual outdoor track and field meeting in Stockholm, Sweden. Held on 2 June 2024 at Stockholm Olympic Stadium, it was the seventh leg of the 2024 Diamond League – the highest level international track and field circuit. The 2024 Prefontaine Classic was the 49th edition of the annual outdoor track and field meeting in Eugene, Oregon, United States. Held on 25 May at Hayward Field, it was the 5th leg of the 2024 Diamond League – the highest-level international track and field circuit. Highlights The meeting was highlighted by the Bowerman Mile. The women's 1500 metres at the 2023 World Athletics Championships was held at the National Athletics Centre in Budapest from 19 to 22 August 2023. Summary Since 2015 when she lost to the world record holder Genzebe Dibaba, the only time Faith Kipyegon has lost a World title race was 2019, when Sifan Hassan ran away from the field. Both Hassan and Kipyegon were back, but Kipyegon was now the world record holder, and not only in the 1500 m; she had also taken down Hassan's mile record and the 5000 m record as well, all this year. Bislett Games
The Bislett Games is an annual track and field meeting at the Bislett Stadium in Oslo, Norway. Previously one of the IAAF Golden League events, it is now part of the Diamond League. History The first international athletics meeting at Bislett was held in 1924. Until 1937 the competitions are known as "The American Meetings". Different organizers staged the meetings between 1947 and 1965 until the three athletics associations BUL, Vidar and Tjalve formed the Bislett Alliance. At this year Arne Haukvik founded the Bislett Games. He was a former politician and director of the meeting, who used to invite the athletes, sponsors and the press to his home for his traditional "strawberry party" the day before the event each year. He died of cancer in 2002 at age 76. The tradition however is continued. Gudaf Tsegay
Gudaf Tsegay Desta (born 23 January 1997) is an Ethiopian middle- and long-distance runner. She is the 2020 Tokyo Olympic bronze medallist in the women's 5000 metres. At the World Athletics Championships, she won a bronze for the 1500 metres in 2019 and a silver in this event and gold for the 5000 m in 2022. Tsegay is a two-time 1500 m World Indoor Championship medallist, winning gold in 2022 and bronze in 2016. She is the current world record holder in the indoor 1500 m, the event in which she also set world under-18 (current) and U20 records. At age 17, she was the 2014 World Junior Championship 1500 m silver medalist. She represented her country over the distance at the 2014 World Indoor Championships. Tsegay is a versatile runner.
