Billa (2009 Film)
''Billa'' is a 2009 Indian Telugu-language gangster action thriller film directed by Meher Ramesh. The film stars Prabhas in a dual role alongside Krishnam Raju, Anushka Shetty, Hansika Motwani, Namitha, Rahman, and Kelly Dorjee. A remake of the 2007 Tamil film ''Billa'', which itself was a remake of the 1978 Hindi film ''Don'' by Salim–Javed, it is the second remake of ''Don'' in Telugu after ''Yugandhar'' (1979). The film began its production in October 2008 and was released on 3 April 2009. Plot The story begins with an underworld don Billa hiding and operating out of Malaysia, hiding from Interpol's international criminal list. Krishnamoorthy, an ACP working for Interpol, has spent the last few years looking for Billa, leaving behind a life in India. Meher Ramesh
Meher Ramesh is an Indian film director and screenwriter who predominantly works for Telugu films. Ramesh debuted as a director with the Kannada film ''Veera Kannadiga'' (2004) which was simultaneously made in Telugu as ''Andhrawala'' (2004), and has made films like ''Ajay'' (2006), a Kannada film which was remake of ''Okkadu'' (2003). Gangster Film
A gangster film or gangster movie is a film belonging to a genre that focuses on gangs and organized crime. It is a subgenre of crime film, that may involve large criminal organizations, or small gangs formed to perform a certain illegal act. The genre is differentiated from Westerns and the gangs of that genre. Overview The American Film Institute defines the genre as "centered on organized crime or maverick criminals in a twentieth century setting". The institute named it one of the 10 "classic genres" in its 10 Top 10 list, released in 2008. The list recognizes 3 films from 1931 & 1932 ('' Scarface'', ''The Public Enemy'' & '' Little Caesar''). Billa (character)
Don is a fictional character in the ''Don'' film franchise. He was first introduced in the 1978 film ''Don''. He later appears in a remake ''Don'' and its sequel ''Don 2''. The character was created by the writer duo Salim–Javed (Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar), and was portrayed by Amitabh Bachchan. In the reboot series, Don was played by Shah Rukh Khan. Don was briefly portrayed by Hrithik Roshan in ''Don 2'' as well in a special appearance. ''Yugandhar'' is a 1979 Indian Telugu-language action film, produced by P. Vidya Sagar on Sri Gajalakshmi Arts banner and directed by K. S. R. Das. The film stars N. T.
