Bill Powers (American Politician)
Bill Powers (born March 10, 1957) is an American politician who has served in the 111th Tennessee General Assembly since being elected in April 2019 and represents the Tennessee Senate's 22nd district. Early life, family, and education He was born in Clarksville, Tennessee and continues to live there to this day. He is the husband of Fran Powers, and they are parents of three children: Spence, Louise, and Henry. He graduated with honors from the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor of Arts, English/History. Political career Local politics He was elected two terms on the Clarksville City Council. Tennessee's 22nd Senate District
Tennessee's 22nd Senate district is one of 33 districts in the Tennessee Senate. It has been represented by Republican Bill Powers since a 2019 special election to replace fellow Republican Mark Green. Geography District 22 is based in Clarksville, covering all of Houston, Montgomery, and Stewart Counties. Other communities in the district include Needmore, Dover, Erin, and Tennessee Ridge. The district is located entirely within Tennessee's 7th congressional district, and overlaps with the 67th, 68th, 74th, and 75th districts of the Tennessee House of Representatives. The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) is a federally owned electric utility corporation in the United States. Stewart County, Tennessee
Stewart County is a county located on the northwestern corner of Middle Tennessee, in the U.S. state of Tennessee. As of the 2010 census, the population was 13,324. Its county seat is Dover. Stewart County is part of the Clarksville Metropolitan Statistical Area. History Stewart County was created by European Americans in 1803 from a portion of Montgomery County, and was named for Duncan Stewart, an early settler and state legislator. The first County Court met in March 1804. According to Goodspeed's history of Stewart County, "Stewart County was settled principally by North Carolinians, the first of whom came some time about 1795, that State having issued military grants to survivors of the Continental war, which called for large tracts of land lying in this county". William Byron Lee (born October 9, 1959) is an American businessman, cattle farmer, former mechanical engineer, and politician serving as the 50th governor of Tennessee since 2019.
