Bilasuvar District
Bilasuvar District ( az, Biləsuvar rayonu) is one of the 66 districts of Azerbaijan. It is located in the south-east of the country and belongs to the Shirvan-Salyan Economic Region. The district borders the districts of Imishli, Saatly, Sabirabad, Salyan, Neftchala, Jalilabad, and Ardabil Province of Iran. Its capital and largest city is Bilasuvar. As of 2020, the district had a population of 105,100. Etymology The district's name is derived from the city Bilasuvar. "Bile" is derived from the Turkish word “bilya” which means lowland, while "suvar" means a "cavalryman". According to Azerbaijani sources, 10 thousand cavalrymen were deployed in these lowlands during the reign of Sassanid shah Khosrov. Geography Total area of the district equals 1358 km2. Azerbaijan is administratively divided into 66 districts () and 11 cities () that are subordinate to the Republic. Out of these, 7 districts and 1 city is located within the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. The districts are further divided into municipalities (). Mubariz Ibrahimov
Mubariz Aghakerim oğlu Ibrahimov ( az, Mübariz Ağakərim oğlu İbrahimov; February 7, 1988 in Əliabad - June 18, 2010 in Çaylı) was an Azerbaijani Warrant Officer and National Hero of Azerbaijan. Early years Mubariz Ibrahimov, was born in Aliabad, Bilasuvar District. After completing his secondary education in 2005, Ibrahimov was conscripted to Azerbaijani Armed Forces serving from 2006 through 2007. In September 2009, he entered the courses for warrants, after which he served in Naftalan. Death On June 19, Ibrahimov was killed in a shootout along the frontline between Azerbaijani and Armenian forces. The Azerbaijani government posthumously granted him the title of National Hero of Azerbaijan. Biləsuvar (city)
Bilasuvar ( az, Biləsuvar) is a city in and the capital of the Bilasuvar District of Azerbaijan. The area's considerable agricultural potential depends on irrigation. It is situated near one of the country's four border crossings with Iran. It has been said that the city's name was called "Pileh-Swar", which meant ‘Elephant-riding Person’ in Persian language, a reference to an early emir. In Azerbaijani the name means ‘Pure Waterfalls‘. Hamdallah Mustawfi
Hamdallah Mustawfi Qazvini ( fa, حمدالله مستوفى قزوینی, Ḥamdallāh Mustawfī Qazvīnī; 1281 – after 1339/40) was a Persian official, historian, geographer and poet. He lived during the last era of the Mongol Ilkhanate, and the interregnum that followed. A native of Qazvin, Mustawfi belonged to family of ''mustawfis'' (financial accountants), thus his name. He was a close associate of the prominent vizier and historian Rashid al-Din Hamadani, who inspired him to write historical and geographical works. Mustawfi is the author of three works; ''Tarikh-i guzida'' ("Excerpt History"), '' Zafarnamah'' ("Book of Victory") and ''Nuzhat al-Qulub'' ("Hearts' Bliss"), respectively.
