Bike Auckland
Bike Auckland (Bike AKL), formerly Cycle Action Auckland (CAA) is a pro-cycling advocacy group in Auckland, New Zealand. The predominantly volunteer group aims to improve infrastructure and conditions, as well as perceptions of cycling to encourage more "everyday people" to use bicycles, including for commuting and recreation. Affiliated with Cycling Action Network, the group focuses on Auckland, New Zealand's largest city. The group also more generally calls for increased funding for cycling infrastructure and safety measures. The first chair (up until 2008) was Bevan Woodward. The chair from 2008 to 2021 was Barbara Cuthbert. The current chair as of November 2021 is Tony Mitchell. Fullers Ferries
Fullers Group Limited, trading as Fullers360, is a ferry and tourism company in Auckland, New Zealand. It operates in the Hauraki Gulf and Waitemata Harbour. Fullers Group is the latest in a long line of almost continuous harbour and gulf ferry operations based in Auckland since the 1870s. History George Hudson, and his son, Douglas, conceived an idea for an improved ferry operator to replace the neglected Auckland ferry services during a sailing trip on Waitemata Harbour in 1981. Auckland Regional Transport Authority
The Auckland Regional Transport Authority (ARTA) was the central co-ordinating agency for transport (especially but not only public transport) in the Auckland Region of New Zealand from 2004 to 2010. In this role, ARTA provided public transport services, assigned funding and subsidies, and organised and advised on many aspects of regionwide transport. Northern Busway, Auckland
The Northern Busway is a segregated busway that runs along the eastern side of the Northern Motorway, part of State Highway 1, in the north of Auckland, New Zealand, linking the North Shore with the northern end of the Auckland Harbour Bridge. As of May 2022, the busway consists of two-way lanes running between Albany Station and Akoranga Station, and from Akoranga Station a southbound-only lane that joins the harbour bridge approaches just south of the Onewa Road on-ramp system. Between 2008 and 2022 the busway terminated at Constellation. TelstraClear Challenge
Bike the Bridge, formerly known as the TelstraClear Challenge, is an annual cycling event held in Auckland that allows entrants to cycle over the Auckland Harbour Bridge, one of the only two times each year that cyclists are legally allowed to do so, the other event being the Auckland Ironman 70.3 triathlon held in January. It is both a race and a leisure ride, aimed at cyclists of all skill levels. History The event was first run on 11 December 2011, and attracted approximately 4000 cyclists, despite the high wind that often buffets the Harbour Bridge. Auckland Mayor Len Brown competed in the race, highlighting the need for Auckland to transition to a cycling culture. Auckland Transport (AT) is the council-controlled organisation (CCO) of Auckland Council responsible for transport projects and services. The Campaign for Better Transport (CBT) is an Auckland, New Zealand, based advocacy group that promotes alternatives to the private car, including public transport, cycling and walking. Frock has been used since Middle English as the name for an article of clothing, typically coat-like, for men and women. Terminology In British English and in Commonwealth countries the word may be used as an alternative term for a girl's or woman's dress, in particular for a dress suitable for a smart occasion but (in UK English usage) with a hemline higher than a full-length ballgown. Nelson Street Cycleway
The Nelson Street Cycleway is a cycleway (and in some sections, a shared pathway for walking and cycling) in Auckland, New Zealand. The most well-known section of the path is , translated as, and commonly known as Lightpath (also known as the Pink Path). The cycleway then continues on to the Nelson Street arterial road into the City Centre. Unique features of the old offramp are the hot-pink colour of its surface, and its LED mood lighting system that constantly changes; the latter feature inspired the Māori name. Stage 1 of the project was opened on 3 December 2015, and Stage 2 opened in December 2017. The last part of the route to the waterfront remains incomplete as of 2019.
