The Big Red Software Company Limited, doing business as Big Red Software, was a British video game developer based in Leamington Spa, England, that was founded by Paul Ranson in October 1989. History Big Red Software was incorporated on 16 October 1989 by Paul Ranson, and was based in Leamington Spa, England. In their early years, they focused on the 8-bit home computer game market, especially for ZX Spectrum and Amstrad CPC. During this time, they formed a close relationship with Codemasters, who published many of their games. This relationship was sufficiently close that Codemasters turned to them to develop the next '' Dizzy'' game after the series' creators, the Oliver Twins, moved onto other projects. ''Spellbound Dizzy'' or ''Dizzy 5'' is an adventure video game, featuring the character Dizzy, released in November 1991 by Codemasters. The series was originally developed by the Oliver twins but they had little involvement with this title other than executive sign-off, leaving Big Red Software to redesign the graphics engine and design the game and puzzles. The game is the fifth in the Dizzy series, excluding arcade spinoffs such as '' Kwik Snax'' and had the largest map of any Dizzy game to date with 108 screens. Consequently, it is by far longer and more difficult than any other game in the series. The gameplay is also complicated by the fact that Dizzy loses health when falling from heights (a feature which was removed from subsequent games). Fun School is a series of educational packages developed and published in the United Kingdom by Europress Software, initially as ''Database Educational Software''. The original Fun School titles were sold mostly by mail order via off-the-page adverts in the magazines owned by Database Publications. A decision was made to create a new set of programs, call the range Fun School 2, and package them more professionally so they could be sold in computer stores around the UK. Every game comes as a set of three versions, each version set to cater for a specific age range.
