Biathlon At The 2022 Winter Olympics – Women's Pursuit
The Women's pursuit competition of the Beijing 2022 Olympics was held on 13 February, at the National Biathlon Centre, in the Zhangjiakou cluster of competition venues, north of Beijing, at an elevation of . Marte Olsbu Røiseland of Norway won the event. Elvira Öberg of Sweden won the silver medal, and Tiril Eckhoff of Norway the bronze. Summary The 2018 champion, Laura Dahlmeier, and the silver medalist, Anastasiya Kuzmina, retired from competitions. The 2018 bronze medalist, Anaïs Bescond, qualified for the Olympics, but in the 2021–22 Biathlon World Cup ranking before the Olympics she was tenth. Biathlon
The biathlon is a winter sport that combines cross-country skiing and rifle shooting. Monika Hojnisz-Staręga
Monika Hojnisz (born 27 August 1991), now Monika Hojnisz-Staręga, is a Polish biathlete. She competes in the Biathlon World Cup. Hojnisz won a bronze medal at the Biathlon World Championships 2013 (12.5 km mass start). In December 2018 she scored her best World Cup finish, taking second place in the 15 km individual at the Pokljuka round of the World Cup. Katharina Innerhofer
Katharina Komatz ( Innerhofer, born 17 January 1991) is an Austrian biathlete. She was born in Zell am See. She competed at the Biathlon World Championships 2012 and 2013, and at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. On 6 March 2014, Innerhofer won her first World cup event by finishing first in a sprint competition in Pokljuka. Before this victory, her best result in the World Cup was 22nd place in an individual race in Ruhpolding. It was also a first-ever victory in the World Cup for an Austrian female biathlete. Vanessa Hinz
Vanessa Hinz (born 24 March 1992) is a former German biathlete and cross-country skier. Hinz started in her first world cup races at the end of the 2012/13-season. At the 2013 European Championships she won a gold medal with the German relay team. In 2014, she participated in the Winter Olympics in Sochi. She was officially nominated by the DOSB on 23 January 2014, but not taken with the team to Russia. So she had to wait at home as stand-by reserve. Dinara Talhatauna Alimbekava ( kk, Динара Талғатқызы Әлімбекова, Dinara Talğatkyzy Älimbekova born 5 January 1996) is a Kazakhstan-born Belarusian biathlete. Hanna Öberg (born 2 November 1995) is a Swedish biathlete. Career In 2017 she won the IBU Female Rookie of the Year Award for her World Cup debut season, with the male counterpart being awarded to her fellow Swede Sebastian Samuelsson. At the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympics she won a surprising gold in the Individual, after four clean shootings. It was both the first victory and podium of her career, with her previous best being a fifth place in the world cup. Denise Herrmann
Denise Herrmann-Wick (née Herrmann, born 20 December 1988) is a former German biathlete and cross-country skier. She won gold at 2022 Winter Olympics – Women's individual, won gold at Biathlon World Championships 2019 – Women's pursuit and won gold at Biathlon World Championships 2023 – Women's sprint. Previously, she has competed in FIS Cross-Country World Cup since 2009. Herrmann has won several medals at the World Cup events. Alina Stremous (born 11 July 1995) is a Russian-born Moldovan biathlete who competed at the 2022 Winter Olympics. She won the 10 km pursuit event at the 2022 IBU Open European Championships. Personal life Stremous was born in Kotelnikovo, Russia. She studied at State Budgetary Secondary School No. 3, Saint Petersburg. Career Stremous started cross-country skiing in Volgograd, Russia, and later moved to Saint Petersburg. In 2017, she started competing for the St. Petersburg Biathlon Sports Federation. Yuliia Dzhima ( uk, Юлія Валентинівна Джима; born 19 September 1990) is a Ukrainian World Cup level biathlete. She is Olympic champion in women's relay, multiple World championships medalist. She is one of the most successful Ukrainian biathletes of 2010's. Career She took up biathlon in Kyiv, where she lives. At the beginning of her sporting career she wasn't seen as a promising rising athlete. She didn't show good results in skiing so trainers were doubtful whether she would be a good biathlete.
