Katharina Innerhofer
Katharina Komatz ( Innerhofer, born 17 January 1991) is an Austrian biathlete. She was born in Zell am See. She competed at the Biathlon World Championships 2012 and 2013, and at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. On 6 March 2014, Innerhofer won her first World cup event by finishing first in a sprint competition in Pokljuka. Before this victory, her best result in the World Cup was 22nd place in an individual race in Ruhpolding. It was also a first-ever victory in the World Cup for an Austrian female biathlete. Katharina Innerhofer has been married to the Austrian biathlete David Komatz since 2022 and bears his last name. In 2023 the two became parents to a son. Zell am See is the administrative capital of the Zell am See District in the Austrian state of Salzburg (state), Salzburg. Biathlon at the 2018 Winter Olympics was held at the Alpensia Biathlon Centre, Daegwallyeong-myeon, Pyeongchang-gun, Gangwon-do, South Korea. There were eleven events contested: men and women competed in each of sprint, pursuit, individual, mass start, and relay; there was also a mixed relay event. The eleven events were scheduled to take place between 9 and 23 February 2018. Qualification A total of 230 quota spots were available to athletes to compete at the games (115 men and 115 women). Countries were assigned quotas using a combination of the Nation Cup scores of their top three athletes in the individual, sprint, and relay competitions, during the 2016–17 Biathlon World Cup season. The first Biathlon World Championships (BWCH) was held in 1958, with individual and team contests for men. The number of events has grown significantly over the years. Beginning in 1984, women biathletes had their own World Championships, and finally, from 1989, both genders have been participating in joint Biathlon World Championships. In 1978 the development was enhanced by the change from the large army rifle calibre to a small bore rifle, while the range to the target was reduced from 150 to 50 meters. Venues The Biathlon World Championships of the season takes place during February or March. The Biathlon World Cup is a top-level biathlon season-long competition series. It has been held since the winter seasons of 1977–78 Biathlon World Cup, 1977–78 for men and 1982–83 Biathlon World Cup, 1982–83 for women. The women's seasons until 1986–87 Biathlon World Cup, 1986–87 season were called the European Cup, although participation was not restricted to Europeans. The Biathlon World Championships 2021 took place in Pokljuka, Slovenia, from 9 to 21 February 2021. The Biathlon World Championships 2020 took place in Rasen-Antholz, Italy, from 12 to 23 February 2020.
