Biathlon World Championships 2020
The Biathlon World Championships 2020 took place in Rasen-Antholz, Italy, from 12 to 23 February 2020. Host selection On 4 September 2016, Antholz-Anterselva won the voting (30 votes) during the twelfth IBU Congress in Chișinău over Pokljuka (15 votes) and Oberhof, Germany (four votes). Also Nové Město na Moravě withdrew their bid for 2020 before the vote took place. The 2020 event is staged in Antholz for the sixth time. Schedule ''All times are local (UTC+1).'' Dorothea Wierer
Dorothea Wierer (, ; born 3 April 1990) is an Italian biathlete competing in the Biathlon World Cup. Together with Karin Oberhofer, Dominik Windisch and Lukas Hofer she won a bronze medal in the Mixed relay at the 2014 Winter Olympics, in Sochi, Russia. At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea she won again the bronze medal in the Mixed relay with Lisa Vittozzi, Lukas Hofer and Dominik Windisch. At the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, China, she won her first individual medal in the Sprint. She is the 2019 Mass Start World Champion and the 2020 Pursuit and Individual World Champion. Rasen-Antholz
Rasen-Antholz (; it, Rasun-Anterselva ) is a municipality in South Tyrol in northern Italy. Geography The municipal area stretches along the Antholz valley, a northern side valley of the larger Puster Valley. In the northeast, the Staller Saddle mountain pass, at a height of leads into the Defereggen Valley in East Tyrol, Austria. The Antholz valley is confined by the mountains of the Rieserferner Group in the north and the Villgraten Mountains in the east, both part of the High Tauern range in the Central Eastern Alps. Arnd Peiffer (born 18 March 1987) is a German former biathlete. His greatest achievements were sprint victories in the 2018 Winter Olympics and the Biathlon World Championships 2011. During his career, he also won three World Championship relay golds as well as several other Olympic and World Championship medals. Peiffer announced his retirement in March 2021. Vetle Sjåstad Christiansen
Vetle Sjåstad Christiansen (born 12 May 1992) is a Norwegian biathlete. Early life Christiansen was born in Geilo, a centre in the municipality of Hol, to Randi Sjåstad and her husband Georg William Christiansen. His younger sister, Tiril Sjåstad Christiansen, is a successful freestyle skier. Christiansen began his career by racing in biathlon and cross-country skiing as a junior on the national level. In his youth, his greatest idol was Ole Einar Bjørndalen. Christiansen learned much about how to train from literature of and about Bjørndalen, and was inspired by Bjørndalen's training mentality, and started training a lot and hard, from a very early age. Dominik Landertinger (; born 13 March 1988) is a retired Austrian biathlete. Life and career Landertinger debuted in the 2007–08 season, and his big breakthrough came during the 2008–09 season, where he, as of 22 March 2015, has fourteen podium finishes, including a gold medal in the 15 km mass start at the 2009 World Championships in Pyeongchang and a win in the 15 km mass start in Khanty-Mansiysk at the last round of the 2009–10 season. Erik Lesser (born 17 May 1988) is a German former biathlete. In 2010, he ran his first single World Cup Race. At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, he won a silver medal at Men's individual. At the Biathlon World Championships 2013 he won a bronze medal with the German team in Men's relay. His grandfather Axel Lesser competed in cross-country skiing for East Germany at the 1976 Winter Olympics. Lesser began cross-country skiing at the age of six and took up biathlon in 1999 at the age of eleven. Franziska Preuß (also spelled Preuss, born 11 March 1994) is a German biathlete. Preuß started in her first world cup races in the 2013/14-season after winning two medals at the last European Championships, three medals at the Junior World Championships and 3 gold medals (4 in total) at the 2012 Winter Youth Olympics.
