Istanbul Metro
The Istanbul Metro () is a rapid transit railway network that serves the city of Istanbul, Turkey. Apart from the M11 line, which is operated by TCDD Taşımacılık, the system is operated by Metro Istanbul, a public enterprise controlled by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. The oldest section of the metro is the M1 line, which opened on 3 September 1989. As of 2024, the system now includes 159 stations in service, with 36 more under construction. Barbaros Boulevard
The Barbaros Boulevard () is a -long major street in the Beşiktaş district on the European side of Istanbul, Turkey. It runs in a straight line in south–north direction from Beşiktaş Square over Yıldız up to Zincirlikuyu, where it passes over to Büyükdere Avenue. It is named after the Ottoman admiral of the fleet Hayreddin Barbarossa () (c. 1478–1546), whose tomb is located in Beşiktaş. It is a major artery of the Istanbul Central Business District, which is not located in the historic center of the city, but rather north of Taksim Square. The long boulevard ascends a slope from elevation at Beşiktaş Square up to at Balmumcu before Zincirlikuyu. Beşiktaş
Beşiktaş () is a district and municipality of Istanbul Province, Turkey. Its area is 18 km2 and its population is 175,190 (2022). It is located on the European shore of the Bosphorus strait. It is bordered on the north by Sarıyer and Şişli, on the west by Kağıthane and Şişli, on the south by Beyoğlu, and on the east by the Bosphorus. Directly across the Bosphorus is the district of Üsküdar. M7 (Istanbul Metro)
The M7, officially referred to as the M7 Yıldız–Mahmutbey metro line () is a rapid transit line of the Istanbul Metro system on the European part of Istanbul, Turkey. It is colored light pink on the maps and route signs. It is the first driverless rapid transit line of the European side of Istanbul. On 20 December 2013, the line was commissioned to Kalyon Group for construction. The groundbreaking ceremony was held on 9 February 2014. The line is long with 17 stations. The line is divided into three phases. Currently, it is partly in service. An island platform (also center platform (American English) or centre platform (British English)) is a station layout arrangement where a single platform is positioned between two tracks within a railway station, tram stop or transitway interchange. Island platforms are sometimes used between the opposite-direction tracks on twin-track route stations as they are cheaper and occupy less area than other arrangements.
