Bermuda competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Originally scheduled to take place from 24 July to 9 August 2020, the Games had been postponed to 23 July to 8 August 2021, because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Since the nation's official debut in 1936, Bermudian athletes have appeared in every edition of the Summer Olympic Games, but did not attend the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow because of the nation's support for the US-led boycott. Rowing At The 2020 Summer Olympics
The rowing competitions at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo took place between 23 and 30 July 2021 at the Sea Forest Waterway ( Central Breakwater) in Tokyo Bay. Fourteen medal events were contested by 526 athletes (263 men and women each). Competition format The rowing programme featured a total of fourteen events, seven each for both men and women in identical boat classes. This gender equality was suggested by the World Rowing Federation at its February 2017 congress, with the recommendation adopted by the International Olympic Committee in June 2017. This balancing was achieved by deleting the men's lightweight four and adding the women's coxless four boat classes. Bermuda competed at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru from July 26 to August 11, 2019. In March 2019, the Bermuda Olympic Association announced Branwen Smith-King as the team's chef de mission. In July 2019, the Bermuda Olympic Association named a team of 17 athletes (ten men and seven women) competing in seven sports. During the opening ceremony of the games, sailor Cecilia Wollmann carried the flag of the country as part of the parade of nations. Annabelle Collins (equestrian)
Annabelle Collins (born 21 November 1977) is a Bermudian dressage rider. She has qualified to compete at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. Career Collins started riding on Bermuda as a child. She competed at local horse shows and regularly rode on the beach with her family and friends. She moved to Somerset and started eventing at age 14, before changing disciplines to dressage after witnessing the 1994 World Equestrian Games in person. In 2000, she graduated from Bristol University with an honours degree in economics and accounting, and subsequently worked as an accountant for her family business. She took part at the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, where she placed 10th individually aboard Medici. In 2018, Collins contested the World Equestrian Games in Tryon aboard PRE Joyero VG.
