Bensonhurst Blues
"Bensonhurst Blues" is a song written by Artie Kaplan and Artie Kornfeld. It was originally released in 1971 on Kaplan's album ''Confessions Of A Male Chauvinist Pig''. Oscar Benton went on to record the song in 1973 for his '' Bensonhurst Blues'' album and again, eight years later, for the soundtrack for the French film ''Pour la peau d'un flic''. The latter version was subsequently released by EMI Records and enjoyed success in Europe. One of Benton's recordings also appears in the 1999 film '' La Bûche''. Bensonhurst Blues has been recorded in several different languages. Adriano Celentano included an Italian language version of the song on his 2004 album, ''C'è sempre un motivo''. The song has been recorded in Romanian by both Margareta Pâslaru and Aurelian Andreescu. Singer Dimitri Tambossis released a Greek version of the song in 1982. Artie Kaplan
Artie Kaplan is an American recording artist, songwriter and a session musician. He has also been a music contractor where he was hired to musicians for sessions. In the 1960s, he was casting musicians for sessions for Aldon Music. When musician Joe Delia was asked about the best advice he had ever had, he said it was from Kaplan, who said "Always show up on time and bring a pencil." Background Kaplan is a singer-songwriter, producer and composer and the instruments he plays are saxophone, Clarinet, flute and piccolo. His saxophone playing and sax solos can be heard on over 150 songs that made it to the top 10. The songs he has played on are " 1-2-3" by Len Barry, "The Locomotion" by Little Eva, "Mandy" by Barry Manilow, "Breaking Up is Hard to Do" by Neil Sedaka and " Sunday Will Never Be the Same" by Spanky & Our Gang. Bensonhurst, Brooklyn
Bensonhurst is a residential neighborhood in the southwestern section of the New York City borough of Brooklyn. The neighborhood is bordered on the northwest by 14th Avenue, on the northeast by 60th Street, on the southeast by Avenue P and 22nd Avenue (Bay Parkway) and on the southwest by 86th Street. It is adjacent to the neighborhoods of Dyker Heights to the northwest, Borough Park and Mapleton to the northeast, Bath Beach to the southwest, and Gravesend to the southeast. Bensonhurst contains several major ethnic enclaves. Traditionally, it is known as a Little Italy of Brooklyn due to its once large Italian-American population. Bensonhurst today has the largest population of residents born in China and Hong Kong of any neighborhood in New York City and is now home to Brooklyn's second Chinatown. Margareta Pâslaru
Margareta Pâslaru or Pîslaru (; born July 9, 1943, in Bucharest) is a Romanian-American singer, actress, composer, lyricist, TV producer, and artistic director. Debuting in 1958, Pâslaru celebrated the 50th anniversary of her career at The Romanian Union of Composers in Bucharest in 2008. Pâslaru was married to Gheorghe Sencovici, a former Olympic skeet shooting, skeet shooter, until his death, and the couple had a daughter, Ana Maria, and a grandson, Luca. Adriano Celentano
Adriano Celentano (; born 6 January 1938) is an Italian musician, singer, composer, actor, and filmmaker. He is dubbed "''il Molleggiato''" (the springy one) because of his dancing. Artie Kornfeld
Arthur Lawrence Kornfeld (born 1942) is an American musician, record producer, and music executive. He is best known as the music promoter for the Woodstock Festival held in 1969. Kornfeld is also known for his collaborations with Artie Kaplan. Biography Kornfeld was born in 1942 into a Jewish lower-middle-class family in Brooklyn, New York, United States. In his early teens, when his family had moved to North Carolina, he got a job at the Charlotte Coliseum selling soda pop so he could catch acts such as Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, and Fats Domino. He later attended Adelphi College and American University where he would further his music career. By 1966, Kornfeld had written over 75 ''Billboard'' charted songs and participated in over 150 albums.
