Benjamin King Jr. (December 30, 1890 - April 1956) was a Democratic member of the Mississippi House of Representatives, representing Copiah County, from 1916 to 1920. Biography Benjamin King, Jr. was born on December 30, 1890, in Beauregard, Copiah County, Mississippi. He was the son of Mississippi state senator Benjamin King Sr. and Evaline (Harris) King. Benjamin Junior graduated from Wesson High School in 1909. He then attended Ruskin Cave College in Tennessee for two years. He then was a teacher in Copiah County schools for three years. After studying law privately, he passed the bar examination in 1912 and began practicing law in Hazlehurst. Beauregard, Mississippi
Beauregard is a village in Copiah County, Mississippi, United States. The population was 326 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Jackson Metropolitan Statistical Area. Beauregard is named for P. G. T. Beauregard. Geography Beauregard is located in southern Copiah County at (31.721549, -90.388096). It is bordered to the south by the town of Wesson. U.S. Route 51 passes along the western edge of the village, leading north to Hazlehurst, the county seat, and south to Brookhaven. Exit 51 on Interstate 55 is west of the village center on Sylvarena Road. According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of , of which , or 0.82%, is water. With an eastern border formed by the Pearl River, Copiah County is part of the Jackson, MS Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Mississippi House of Representatives is the lower house of the Mississippi Legislature, the lawmaking body of the U.S. state of Mississippi. According to the state constitution of 1890, it is to comprise no more than 122 members elected for four-year terms. To qualify as a member of the House candidates must be at least 21 years old, a resident of Mississippi for at least four years, and a resident in the district for at least two years. Elections are held the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November.
